Tnx lads, all makes sense and hopefully the auld legs will spark up on Sunday.

Don't remember the head been this melted before Limerick though!

I'm checking weather forecast sites now on the hour, different sites are showing drastically different forecasts from 19-23*, cloudy to bright sunshine FFS.

    The Bitter Lemon

Haha, I'm the same. The strong wind forecasted is more a concern at the mo! Luckily I did lots of drafting practice in the previous half and 10 mile that were very windy

I am really sorry you have got dragged into all this, genuinely. I have absolutely no quarrel with you or anyone else who supports the man who shall remain nameless from now on, but I see you are taking it personally so I will stop.
It's just a bit of venting, I think I am over it all now.

We'll give TbL his log back, sorry for the Interruption and best of Luck at the weekend auldlad. Remember 3:04:58 is your worst case scenario. No excuses. I'll be coming for your time next Spring.

is it just yourself and viperlogic heading over? Surprised there isn't more of a boards presence, or a race thread. Is there live tracking?

    Guys,

My auld lads perspective on this.

When Stazza started posting I thought he was an interesting and knowledgable poster. He seemed quirky (though not a doctor:)) and a bit eccentric. I enjoyed most of his stuff (wouldn't be big into the writing thing though), granted some of it probably wasn't appropriate to a running forum. I asked him for advice on my own log and found it helpful. I even considered asking him to coach me but on considered reflection I decided not to, why? Simple really, when it comes to understanding the science behind running I'm beyond dumb. I looked at some of Stazzas advice and I couldn't relate to it or understand it as a casual dumb runner (albeit a casual dumb runner that wants to get faster). I met Ecoli in person shortly after and he went through my running history and explained his training philosophy to me. It was simplified so that I could understand and relate to it. Best running decision I ever made, it's put me in the running form of my life, and irrespective of what happens on Sunday, I'm gonna consistently improve cycle after cycle with a program tailored for my work/life balance.

So while I found Stazza interesting, I made the decision that his approach wouldn't work for me. I think Ultrapercy hit the nail on the head when stating that Stazza had some valid points but why did he need to encase it in bolloxiology.

Recently I've become annoyed and frustrated with Stazza, I also really didn't like the way that Dr Q has been vilified ( my subjective opinion here folks). I've met Q, he' a genuine, nice and helpful guy. He's said himself that some of his boards posts didn't do him justice, but my experience of the guy is that he'd go out of his way to help a sub 3 runner just as much as a sub 5 runner. He's racing and facing his demons like almost every other runner on here. I really hope that he comes back here soon.

Yesterday was a bad day for Boards, Ecoli closing his account is a monumental blow to the collective. As one of the lads said to me yesterday Ecolis training posts were "pure gold".

My opinion of Stazza hit rock bottom yesterday, I will also say if he is genuine and doing research for a book, almost 4 years between the two forum, it's gonna be some tome! I think there's more to it than meets the eye. I, however, won't start vilifying the guy as life is too short.

Let's get back to basics, left, right, repeat and have a bit of craic doing it.

Let's also not lose sight of the positives of Boards.

Can't post a link. Coz I'm crap, but did people see the post by Tunguska (don't know the lad and from his username you'd think he was the cloakroom attendant in an S&M club :)), on the DCM course profile. It was an incredible post that must have taken a big effort to put together and will be extremely useful to hundreds of runners. Incredible stuff. I'm not even running DCM but was riveted by it! Pity he couldn't do it for Amsterdam :)

When our paths eventually do cross I'm happy to forego the traditional handshake and do that fist bumping thing instead :)

Plan called for 3 miles very easy.

Still no sign of the Garmin so took a late lunch and headed out for 40 mins nice and easy. Kinda surprised I wasn't bedevilled by phantom niggles on this run :) It is kinda surreal that after hundreds of training miles I've only a 3 mile easy session before race day.

Also stopped watching weather forecasts as they're changing faster than a politicians promises.

I've also decided to adopt the Tit approach.

    Trust in Training.
