Oil Burner fires even though the timer is off

    Hi all,
    I have been having a bit of trouble lately with my home heating.
    The burner fires even though the timer display is set to off?
    The timer was replaced last week but the burner still has a mind of it's own.
    Sometimes the motorised valves in the hot press need to be opened manually, could these be causing the burner to kick in?

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Yes opening the valve will make it fire. It all depends on how it's wired. You could also have a faulty frost stat.

    I think the faulty motorised valve is calling the burner to switch on because it had been left in manual mode. I need to replace the valve asap and in the meantime manually close the valve after the heating has been switched on.
