Level par arfter two holes. RTE really talking up his chances there just now.

Heard the Morning Ireland sportsnews at 8.35 this morning and the sports presenter asked the golf reporter a strange question along the lines of why Lowry would have a good chance in Portugal. Seemed totally ignorant of Lowry's recent form, being a past champion, and standing in relation to the rest of the field.

Moved from trolling Harrington to Lowry this week I see. Not likely to need a very low round tomorrow, a good round should suffice.

Scoring seems to be good today - might be too late for Peter Lawrie though.

I think the cut is likely to go to -3 or possibly even -4, so Shane will need to pick up another shot to two to make the cut. Be nice to see him go really low today to give himself a chance of a high placing. Top two are pretty much out of reach at this stage.

Equaled the European record but I dont know if it counts due to preferred lies.

Preferred lies do not count, there were a couple of 10 unders in the Dunhill Links last week that didn't go into the record books.
Think Shane will be happy with the tie for 22nd this week.
Do they still give the same ranking points for tournaments cut this short I wonder?

If it goes back to the score after 36 holes, he won't get any world ranking points. Very frustrating. That tied 22nd position they're currently showing was his score when play was abandoned.

Counting only 36 holes pushes him back to tied 33rd along with 13 others on -5.

His prize money by my reckoning will be €13,214.

They've made a right mess of the leaderboard.

I agree with your assessment of his final position. If you look at the results tab, they show positions based on scores after 36 holes.

But they haven't shown prize money yet and I think only 75% is paid when the tournament is cut to 36 holes, so that would reduce his prize money to just under €10k.

I wonder are there any jobs going on the European Tour website? I'd love to help to keep them on the straight and narrow. Even better if I got paid for doing it.

I think they'd love him over there. His short game is almost magical - a bit like Phil Mickelson. And the fact that he comes across as a very normal down to earth type of guy (which seems to be genuine, not just an act) would possibly make him something of a cult figure over there.

But would he like all the travelling and being away from home for extended periods?

    Wasn't aware of that, cheers.

Dont have a clue who the last offaly golfer was? My Aunty & Uncle play outta Tullamore but they are nowhere near professional standard, both mid teen handicaps!

Do you mean the next big thing potential superstar outta the Republic in golf terms?

Last Offaly golfer to play PGA & European tours was Birr's Richie Coughlan, who mainly played in the US at the end of the 90's early 2000's.

Thats the only thing that I would see that would hold him back on the pga, he's a huge family man.

Spot on, they've finally posted the prize money and Lowry got €9,911 which is 75% of the money I predicted. He's still 12th on the Race to Dubai rankings.

He will have been hoping to progress further in the OWGR - mess of a week.

Can see him having a good week this week in the match play. Strong(ish) field should suit him in the format.

Even a bad week here is a good week with a 16 man field!

Good luck to him anyway. He's a cracking golfer and seems to be a genuinely nice guy as well...
