    Hi,

I'd appreciate people's opinions on a good wedding venue/package near Limerick.

Looking for around €49-55 a head. I've a few in mind but don't want to miss out. Thanks

We checked out the Strand hotel, Bunratty and Ballykisteen, all of them have packages in that sort of price range.

Which did you find best? Does anyone have any experiences with the woodlands or castleoaks?

I don't know about the price range of the woodlands but I have been to quite a few weddings there(my husband to be is from that part of the county).

the food is always great, and plenty of it. They have a fine big dance floor, and do so many weddings that they seem to quite good at it.

The only downside is the room is quite large so numbers to give the right atmosphere in my opinion need to be 150 - 200.

I have been to one wedding in the castleoaks and it was fab, again though quite a large room but the wedding I was at had 240 people so had a good atmosphere.

We are having our wedding in the Clarion and they have four different price packages, from quite 39 euro for the cheapest and i think 65 the dearest. all except the cheapest include half a bottle of wine per head plus drinks reception.

From looking around the Savoy hotel is 45 euro a head but no wine included, the aboslute ranges from 49 to 65 a head and includes some wine.

It is worth visiting hotels and see what you think as well checking out exactly what is included.

We picked the Clarion because the price was great, but more so because we were there one day having tea and scones in the bar and I just asked on whim to see the function room, we couldn't have been better received, we were brought up the room and got an instant feeling of being in the right venue for us.

Thanks for the detailed response. We're from Limerick but living in Dublin so it's not easy to fit in viewing of hotels. We were really impressed by the castleoaks but they look like they will be €1000 dearer than the Castletroy Park hotel. We are going to view the Woodlands next weekend and hopefully one or two more

We are getting married in the Strand in May. The package in Ballykisteen is great but the room is way too big for the size of group we will be having (85 ish) - it is more suited to 150+. Bunratty is lovely but there were no dates that suited us - as we have a lot of people travelling (my family are all in the Dublin area, we live in London and I have close friends travelling from Germany and Belgium) we were quite set on a Saturday, and there were none available between April and October when we went to see them in early June.

I married at the Blarney Woollen Mills ( sister hotel to the Bunratty Castle), but we honeymooned at Bunratty after a very unfortunate experience with the Galway Bay Hotel (Looong story). Beautiful hotel with picturesque grounds which would make lovely photos.

The food was nice and the service even better. The manager found out it was our honeymoon and arranged for us to stay in the next best suite after the bridal suite. He also sent up champagne and some flowers for me - It was lovely! They also have a private dining room for 'VIP' guests which you have to have a card to enter. It felt very exclusive!!

All in all - it was great, and we're fixing to go back soon.

We are getting married in the Castleoak's in 2016 it is a beautiful venue we completely fell in love with it when we went to view it. The only problem is they are very hard to deal with, so my only advice to you would be to get everything agreed and signed when you are negotiating not that they will do any haggling really but before they get your deposit they will certainly promise things that they wont hold up once they have received your money.

We also viewed Bunratty they were very nice but it wasn't what we were looking for. Good luck with your planning !!!

In what way were they hard to deal with? Did they promise you something that didn't hold up? I was hoping they would be open to a bit of haggling since they are costing €1000 more than a few others.

They hold the provisional booking for 2 weeks, yet they called us after one week to see if we still wanted it as they had a bigger wedding wanting the date ,we didn't have massive numbers around 120 and they agreed to the min number at this but then once we tried to pay deposit we were told they never agree to this as its a spring wedding also we got nothing off the price even thou we are going for the best package or nothing thrown in extra. So I doubt you will get much off the price and if you do id say it will be a battle

It is a beautiful place but could improve sales and management for sure

We are getting married in the Lakeside in Killaloe, 20 minutes from Limerick city, in August 2015 and they are amazing. Everything is fab there, especially the setting. We have a package of €48pp and we are getting everything we wanted. Courtney, the wedding co ordinator is so so helpful!!

    Hope this helps
