Just noticed that BTSport have published the fixtures they will be showing for December. Will Setanta be doing this for the 3pm games soon?

Also thinking back to last season BTSport did not show a game on the final Sunday. Sky had 3 games on. Was this just bad picks by BT or do BT not have rights to show a game on the final day of the season?

They can if they keep a pick to use that day.. Neither them nor ESPN have bothered since ESPN's first season (when they had an extra package). It's just not worth their while to as Sky pick first in any case.

You'd imagine so but they don't seem to be able to pick what they want this season. On the 25th of this month they're going to be showing West Brom v Crystal Palace even though Liverpool v Hull and Sunderland v Arsenal are on at the same time.

Who else would be picking for them? It's not the same game across all of Europe at 3pm like some here speculated.

I'm not sure what you mean by who else would be picking for them...

What traecy means - and this has all been discussed to death on another thread - is that it appears that Setanta are now working to some sort of quota system (almost certainly thanks to their tie-in with BT Sport).

So, next week while just about every provider that is restricted to one game at 3pm will be showing Crystal Palace vs Chelsea, here in Ireland Setanta will be "forced" to show Southampton vs Sunderland.

In other weeks they will be "overlooking" Manchester United and Liverpool matches (which in the past have been guaranteed to be shown on Setanta if playing at 3pm) to show two teams that have absolutely no tradition of support in Ireland.

Other broadcasters are free to show whichever 3pm game they wish to - this applies whether they have full rights to the 380 or they only have rights to Saturday 3pms.

What I meant was some speculated that the Premier League were picking the games that were to be shown at 3pm. That was shown to be nonsense.

And if they are working to a quota system then Setanta are still picking the games.

Yes, it was shown to be nonsense at the time the 3pm restriction came in years ago. However, the apparent restriction on Setanta only started this season...

    The post you responded to...

No mention there of them not picking the games, just that it appears that their hands are tied in some way... ;)

If Setanta are restricted in their 3pm picks their subscribers will not be happy.

Arsenal and Chelsea fans wont be happy this Saturday.
