That miniseries is actually mini-series, not miniser-ies. I thought it was something miserable, for unknown reasons.

If enough people use it, it IS a "real word". If a word isn't in the dictionary, it doesn't mean it's not a word. It just means that the dictionary hasn't recorded its usage yet.

Dictionaries record words AFTER they've gone into general use. And biopic is in quite a few dictionaries.

Yeah, they adopted it because of the Irish for USA is Stáit Aontaithe Mheiriceá, in honour of St Patrick discovering America... or something.

    From another thread;
origin of 'lunatic, lunacy', from Latin, later Spanish, 'luna', moon and reported mental health effects.

Ok, I vaguely knew it but never put the 2 together.

I would say the people who have been surprised by that have no idea of the origins of the word Hysteria either...

    1,000,000 hurts = 1 mega hurts.

Posting in AH does not necessarily mean you are an AH.

The pope is only infallible when talking bull.

A mass movement does not mean that everyone at mass sharted at the same time.

    Respect has to be earned.

    Cats are independent.

Dancing is not necessarily the vertical representation of a horizontal desire.

Dog spelled backwards is not necessarily blasphemous.

Starting a fire with petrol is generally a bad thing.

Swallowing chewing gum does not cause appendicitis.

Using polysyllabic words does not indicate expertise.

Eat to live, don't live to eat.

You don't have to take the first taxi in the queue.

Pigs, when allowed free range, are very clean animals.

You will never read a disclaimer at the end of a film that says "No stuntmen/women were harmed in the making of this film".

Doubles/shots are always a bad idea.

The cheque is not actually in the post.

You can get pregnant the first time, even if you do it standing up.

Wearing a condom is not like washing your feet with your socks on.

The race is not always to the swift, but that is the way to bet.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

    Words can hurt.

"It's not you, it's me" usually means that it is you.

    Reading /= understanding.

    Seeing /= believing.

    Talk is cheap.

    Zero means nothing.

Realised those things a while ago. One more thing...

    Just does not mean fair.
