You made this up, didn't you?

What he meant to say was that if you exceed the speed limit by more than 25mph your vehicle gets impounded. Another thing they do is they double the fine if you're caught speeding in a roadworks zone.

Clear case of the judge having the hots for her, not knowing your doing 187kph is a garbage excuse and if you don't know your doing that speed you should have your license taken away for sheer ignorance and stupidity at least

I wonder did she know that she was driving?

I wonder did she know that she was driving?

If she had said "I didn't even know I was driving" the judge probably would have let off the hook completely.

Everybody has speeded at some point, don't get the outrage?

id say the outrage is mostly coming from jealous women who are are not as blessed in the looks department as the girl caught speeding, the rest will just be the usual moaners you find on after hours.

Yeah, that's exactly what's pissing people off

her speedo probably read 200kmph, they normally over estimate the speed, to keep you below the limit.

How can she claim she has never been over the speed limit before when she admits she didn't realise how fast she was going at 187 kph.

    Pretty has its perks.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with the fact she was travelling in excess of 115mph. To get an idea of what kind of damage this kind of speed can do just watch this:

maybe she should have been getting her eyes tested rather than her teeth done if she could not read the speedometer

It was a motorway. I don't see the big issue. I think the speed limit should be raised on motorways anyway. There are much worse problems on our road than people speeding on a motorway.

Lack of driver education and lack of lane discipline, for example.

Fairly lucky on her part alright,it is a tad unfair doh
What if she had killed someone, would her honesty still have stood her in good stead??

    I wouldn't rate the orthodontist

    Gemma-Reilly--630x290.jpg

8 and 9 are different sizes.
6 and 11 look like they were put in as an afterthought.
Gumline looks more like a treeline.

Would you see a big issue if one of your close relatives got taken out by this bimbo at that speed?

last year two lads got 6 months in prison from the über kranky Judge Zaidan (in Portlaoise or there abouts) for doing similar speeds.

Its very inconsistent what is actually being implemented as dangerous driving to be honest.

I have no objection to increasing the speed limits on our motorways up to, oh, 130kph which is fairly common across most of the rest of Europe. I do have issues with the idea of increasing it up to 180kph.

She was doing over 50% higher than the speed limit in force at the time. I don't buy the "I didn't know I was going that fast". She knew she was late, and she must have noticed she was passing cars out and almost leaving them standing. And her 1.4L Golf is no protection against doing that speed either.

If you have such poor driver awareness that you do not know you're going well over the speed limit, in my view, you should be stripped of your licence for a noticeable period of time and made to retake your driver training.

There is no excuse for this. I'm appalled.

Poor judge thinks he has a chance with her because he went easy on her. Not a chance.

    not so sure about that

Used to go out with a girl when I was 19 and her old man used to manage a bar in rathmines.
he told me some judge would come in daily and drink snipes of champagne (and drive home) and sometimes would have a lady of the night in tow who he had "let off" that day.
Used to brag (when drunk) if he got a decent pint at lunch he'd be more lenient in the afternoon.

    ireland in the 80s.

1 never going to happen there to many farmer cars sitting in the fast lane at 60km

2nd, Could you imagine trying to merge with slower traffic at 180 kms? ? the fact of the matter is, there's not enough lanes on a motor way as it is, upping the speed limit would be insanity but then again could keep the idiots of the motorway which would be nice,

If she had turned up in court and held her hands up and said she was wrong fair enough, I wouldn't be to annoyed with her getting off lightly, but saying she didn't know she was going that fast? Should never be let behind the wheel of a car again.

That speed on a motorway isn't that big of a deal IMO. Not knowing you're doing that speed (taking her at her word) is quite a bit more worrying.
