The G in Galway is hard to beat ...

Stayed there once, nice but I wouldn't pay that sort of money to stay there again.

Honestly one of the best hotel experiences I've had in Ireland (for the price we paid) was the Ramada in Letterkenny.. the beds were unbelievably comfy and the rooms had flat screen teles (back in 2005).. so at the time it was pretty nice.

I've stayed in a variety of hotels in Dublin in recent years.

Radisson St Helen's was excellent. Nice setting and not as expensive as i had expected.

Conrad met my expectations but you pay for the brand and the location.

Hilton (near Rathmines) was very noisy and staff were unfriendly and I duly complained.

But the one that really surprised me was....Crowne Plaza in Blanchardstown. Big bright airy room. Very comfy bed. Great food. Good value. Friendly staff. It was better than I anticipated on every level. I expected little and hot a lot.

For me it absolutely has to be the Langton Hotel in Kilkenny. The girlfriend and I went there for a weekend away last year and we both have very fond memories of the place.

The room was great with a very big bed and a very big bath.. ;)

One of my favorite things about the whole stay was breakfast! While most places will offer a buffet or a menu, The Langton gave us both! Incredible buffet with cereals, pastries, ham, cheese and bread which you can snack on while asking for what you want from the menu! Mmm French Toast and Bacon! :D

For me it's a toss up between the Wineport Lodge, Dromoland Castle & the Park in Kenmare

Stayed in the Lough Erne Resort last January and it was amazing. 2nd favourite would probably be the Clarence.

I've stayed in hotels in almost every county in Ireland, in a previous job. Stayed in Radisson St. Helen's once and unfortunately was left very disappointed.

Asked for a non-smoking room but there was a definite stale smell of smoke in it. White stain on the bedspread :mad: small mirror in the bathroom was cracked, and appeared to have been so for quite some time but what surprised me the most was the electric heater in the room, as in one of these yokes
electric_heater.jpg Serious let down from a 5* facility, and I was so looking forward to it :( I informed reception on my arrival that the room wasn't suitable (the bedspread made my skin crawl) but they had no other room to offer. The gave me a discounted rate but that didn't mean shite to me as work were paying for me to be there.

Powerscourt Ritz-Carlton was lovely, stayed in Druid's Glen a few times too and while I couldn't exactly find fault, I was just a little underwhelmed.

Kilronan Castle was amazing, from start to finish I loved it there, would love to go back. Haven't been to Lough Rynn (apart from visiting the gardens as a child on a Sunday outing) but would be interested to see how it compares.

Bellinter House is beautiful too, not sure if it's been mentioned. Probably the most memorable and unique hotel room I've stayed in. Food was divine too. The only thing which marred that visit was the unfortunate failure of the hot water supply on my first morning but that could happen anywhere and the staff couldn't have been more helpful about it.

I really like the four seasons, even washing my hands there is awesome

Kilronan Castle, The Armada at Spanish Point, Viewmount Country House in Longford though I think it's considered a B&B.

The G Hotel wouldn't even register for me to be honest. Didn't seem like it was anything special. I stayed in some great places in other countries too. I'm a lucky f**ker

Glenlo Abbey in galway. Great venue. Beautiful surroundings. Novel restaurant and excellent staff.
Massive room with a sofa and big TV and a very comfy bed.

Breakfast was fantastic also with a huge selection on offer

    Couldn't fault it.

We've some amazing hotels in this country.
The level of service is something that really stands out.
Hayfield in Cork was fantastic, but Castle Leslie is just faultless.
Such a gem in a lovely village, with great history. The staff attention would make you proud how they deliver such an welcome and look after you so well.
I've been to many 'Castle' hotels in Ireland, and so many of them seem empty with no character.
Castle Leslie is more a country house, and the Leslie family still live there. It's as authentic as you'll get!
Shame it doesn't have a swimming pool or spa though, but I'd still love to go back.

The best that I've stayed in have been the K Club, the Cliff House and the Lodge at Doonbeg. Hard to pick between them.

Cliff House is definitely the best I've stayed in, with Wineport Lodge a close second.

My very first visit to Ireland was a press junket back in 1995 for a major PC company (remember them?), and they put us up in the Shelbourne for one night. Kind-of pointless, really. All I want from a hotel is some food, a decent bed and bathroom, and (most of all) quiet.

Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny and The Heritage in Killenard, would have to say The Heritage edges it for me though.

    No. 1 let down Hotel

    Slieve Russell in Cavan, awful

The Europe in Killarney has always been an exceptionally good hotel.

Ballynahinch Castle in Recess is quite special too.

The Heritage in its heyday was good but in recent years when it got NAMA'd it has gone downhill from a service perspective and also is showing wear and tear.

I agree it is a horrible hotel.

Since I live only a few miles from it I have never stayed here but I have had dinner, afternoon tea and been to a wedding there and it is magnificent. They do have a spa btw in the Lodge but yeah no pool.

Seems Huffington Post agree with me on my hotel choice and in fact place it as best hotel in world for a winter break. Lough Erne Resort

Best hotel I've ever stayed in is the Prince of Wales in Athlone. Love the place. Great food and lovely staff. Carpark is a bit pants but still I stay there everytime I'm down that way. I even pulled one of the girls working there on a stay before and it was handy because I had a room upstairs :p.

Worst hotel I have ever been in is The Killarney Oaks Hotel (guess where it is ha ha). I would rather sh*t in my hands and clap before staying there again.

    1. Internet didn't work.

    2. I was made eat in the beer garden at 11:30pm at night because I wasn't allowed have a chipper in my room even though had the kitchen been open I would have ordered their retardedly over price ham and cheese toasties.

    3. The person that told me was this hippo looking dyed blonde aul one who was a manager or something and sitting at the bar drinking when she told me,

    4. I e-mailed a complaint to them and never heard anything back and that was March this year.

Yeah it was appauling. Their receptionist was a horrible aul sow aswel. The lad behind the bar was lovely but other than that terrible stay. Would recommend you sleep in the cells in the Garda station instead.

Cliff House is the best I've stayed in.

Druids Glen is the worst nice hotel I've stayed in, very disappointed with the level of service, seemed to be geared almost exclusively towards golfing stuff
