Garda chopper normally fly without lights?

Anyone know why what sounds like the garda chopper would be flying about for the last 30 minutes with absolutely no lights of any kind.
Currently circling over Monasterevin the last 30 mins or so,could they be using infra-red to maybe try find someone?
If its not the garda chopper its something with a seriously meaty motor,unreal noise from it and in darkness even in clear sky totally invisible.

I've seen them do that a good few times. Harder to hide from something you can't see I suppose.
They were over Sandyford last night for about 30 mins with no lights too, quite hard to spot.

I would imagine forefront amongst the reasons for this is to make it more difficult for the Neanderthal morons who make a hobby out of targeting aircraft with lasers.

I would imagine its hard to hide from a noise.

It was far more likely to be an Air Corps helicopter training with night vision equipment. They switch off the navigation lights and strobes when they do so for obvious reasons.

Monasterevin is close to Bal in flying terms and other military installations in Kildare.
