Well im in the same problem at the moment. my Learner permit expired in june 2014 and i recently decided to get on the road again but i forgot to renew my license. so its going to take a week or two to get it back and i bought a car that away from my house and i need to get it back. i did ask for recovery to deliver it which will cost 80 euro. or i drive the car with no license and get caught with more serious problems. by the way the girlfriend wont let me get the recovery cause it will cost alot.

need help on this one guys

Simple solution; ask somebody with a full licence and insurance or a trailer to move the car for you.

Either this ^^^ Or don't drive the car until the licence comes back...

    No brainer.

Ask the person who is going to be sitting with you while you drive to drive the car back for you. Get them to check their policy as they may be insured to drive other cars.

You can't have legally got valid insurance if you don't even have a valid learners permit.

Edit: Also get out from under the thumb.

    Hi tomtom66.

Glad to say, everything worked out for me in the end...all due to hiring a Solicitor (I definitely would recommend it as it makes the whole Court appearance horror that just little bit easier – Solicitor cost Euro 100 at the time). Of course, I got five points on my licence (now in my second year), but the stress and worry at the time was just so depressing, I hardly ever got sleep until the Court date finally ended. I did get a small fine of around Euro 350 (payable within three months or so), but more importantly was allowed to continue to drive on the road (licenced ;) )

As to getting the car back from the recovery station. Well, I don’t know your position, however, to get my own back originally, I had to get a Garda-signed, release form that I then handed into the recovery station. BTW, the longer you leave it in the recovery station, it accrues a fine daily – hope you know that.
