I know someone who is 18 and has been sexting a girl who is 17 (he never told me much but I expect pics are involved) am I right in saying this is legal as the girl is over 17?
    Any reply would be appreciated

You might want to ask in the legal forum

The age of contest in Ireland is 17 so I can't see why this would be a problem

The definition of "child" with regard to "child pornography" in Ireland is a person under 17 years of age, so this is legal.

Does this mean if they are both sending eachother messages, pics etc it is completely legal?

Yes. They are both above the age of consent. What they choose to do with their mobile phones is really none of your business after that.

    Thank you for this.

OP, please don't post the same topic in multiple fora - it's a sitewide rule. Seeing as you have posted another thread on this in the Legal Discussion forum and are getting responses there, I'm closing this thread.

    Regards,
    Mike
