Can I change 10 speed rotor to 11 speed?

    Have a new rothar and its an 11 speed.
    The wheels I have are Aksiums with 10-speed rotor and that was fine as the old bike was a 10 speed. But if I wanted to use these wheels now on the new bike, can it be done?

    Do you need a conversion kit or something?

    Change the cassettes. Should be fine.

    Ok, out of interest why does it state "10 speed rotor" in the details of the wheels off the crowd I bought them from?

    Because 11 speed wasn't born at the time.Should be just a straight changeover.You may have to leave out the spacer if theres one on it with the 10 speed cassette

    Aksiums are 11 speed by default and you have to use a really thin spacer to use a 10 speed cassette with them.

    You can check this by taking off your ten speed cassette and seeing if you have a really thin (1.5mm maybe???) spacer underneath it.

    I found this out by buying a pair of 2nd hand Aksiums that didn't come with the spacer :) And they're not strictly 11 speed, they're something bizarre like .025 of a mm off and are Mavic's own weird width which by coincidence turned out to be almost a perfect match for 11 speed hubs when those were released. Or at least that's what lots of googling and swearing at the time found me.

    If you are using a shimano ten speed cassette on mavic aksium wheels, then you need to use the supplied mavic spacer plus the thin spacer supplied with the shimano cassete.

    With a Shimano eleven speed cassette, no spacers are required...
