Really? I've been there many times and I love the place. TBF certain areas are very run down, and if your not into history then its not really the place for you, but I think its a pleasant spot. The trams, the miradouros, and the general feel of the place is great, and its much more bearable climatically than Barcelona.

Not my favourite city as its quite dirty and dilapidated in parts, but still much better than some places I've been to. Glasgow was an absolute dive IMO.

I was surprised by how much of it is actually run down though. A lot of the buildings are dirty and dilapidated. I like my history but other than a couple of interesting pieces of architecture there was nothing that really stood out.

I thought the people were generally unfriendly too. And to top it off, a lot of drug dealers selling hash and cocaine. In a busy touristy area in broad daylight too which really surprised me. They keep hassling you and following you around. I won't be going back in a hurry.

To be fair Lisbon has an excuse for its lack of medieval architecture: it was completely destroyed in 1755. I had a wander around about ten years ago and thought it was OK.

Porto, on the other hand ... I got the heebie-jeebies walking down the main shopping street on a sunny Sunday morning. I was just passing through on the way back from Esposende, a little resort town to the north, which I'd say is my favourite place in Portugal.

Ya,the lake is so clean. Love the mountain food they serve in the restaurants too, lots of cheese, bacon and spuds.there's also a massive casino at the end of the town.so much packed into a small place.anyone I've told to visit the place has loved it.

Tartiflette. Needs the Reblochon cheese in it for perfection but damn it was amazing there.

The highlands in Scotland would be my favourite place.

Sleeper trains, skiing, cheap food and drink and a weee dram to help the night go down.

London. No hassle to get there, loads to do, great shopping. A bit expensive but most big modern cities are.

Honourable mention to Italy- I've been all the major touristy areas bar the lakes in the North, and I've been to a few places off the beaten track and I loved all of it. The most beautiful country.

I'm thinking of going to Copenhagen next. What are some good things to see and do there? Is it expensive?

I live in Copenhagen and love it. It is seriously expensive but the people and city are beautiful. It's worth a visit, but not if you're on a shoe-string.

For those who mentioned Prague as having gone downhill ( I must agree) I would recommend Olomouc in the Czech Republic. Lovely city all year round. Really nice coming up to Christmas

Kuta beach has to be the worst part of Bali. Much nicer places on the island.

Ha HA , i said that tongue in cheek ,to see if i would be pulled up on it .The same with mentioning Pattaya in Thailand .I do enjoy both places for 2 or 3 days though .Kuta has many bars and restaurants but is over populated with young Aussie people ,and extremely aggressive Hawkers .Ubud or even Sanur are much better .In Thailand i like the quiet Island of Koh Chang in Trat province near the Cambodian border.
