This past weekend I did a MTB race/sportive in Piketberg. (Old Dutch word ‘picquet’ as a small military outpost or ‘pickets’. 'Berg' = mountain.)

The entire race start & finish in 'Op-die-Berg' (‘on the mountain’), which is the name of the fruit producing plateaux on top of the mountain. (Accessible only since 1899)

I rate it as the most technical, scenic, beautiful 6.5 hours I spend in the Western Cape on a MTB. Finished with blister on my hands and a grin that from ear to ear. (So please excuse the descriptive notes :o )

Col de Couraduque is one of the lesser known climbs of the Pyrenees. It's a 16km long HC climb to a ski station which has a very nice cafe at the summit and an alright view.

Love the second shot; makings of a good movie poster backdrop or book cover.

Thank sweet basy jebus, I'm cycling again, after a serial "can't get the parts, should have come to me last decade" 26-day nightmare of being bottom-bracketless. Just a short run out this evening to make sure both BB and legs were working... And only had my phone with me. Still, lovely evening. "Discovered" a road between North Point and Killard that was new to me: very pleasant.

Given that the short spin along the Upper Lake cost me a puncture I thought I'd post this! Lovely morning/afternoon for a spin!

Spin with the An Oige cyclists yesterday. And cakes! Unremarkable photies; remarkable timestamps for me, in that they're in the AM. (groan)
