Booked a Driving Test - No date given

Is this normal? I booked my test for the Thurles centre and no available appointment could be selected well into 2015, surely this cannot be right? I selected the "pick a date for me" option and now got an e-mail saying

" I acknowledge receipt of your driving test application and fee for category B - MOTOR CAR/ LIGHT VAN. We will notify you of your appointment details, generally up to four weeks before the date."

Is that normal? People who I know and have applied before were able to select dates! How long should I be waiting for this date? Since I'm in 6th Year I have enough time restrains etc. due to school.

Should this be of concern or not?

    Thanks!

Concern - no. That's the way it is for those who send in postal applications afaik. No choosing a date, the RSA send a letter with some-weeks notice (with option of getting a late cancellation offer).

    Good Luck in your preparations,

You usually get a date 4 weeks before the test

I applied online and selected to receive updates through e-mail.

Thanks for that, I'll definitely need luck!

Coolio. When applying via post, their is no date given either until x-weeks prior anyways, so no different to your situation here eventhough you applied online.

My apoligies, I should've and could've been clearer,

It depends on the availability on the test centre you have chosen - however from my experience with them most of the time you will get told a date / time about 3-4 weeks in advance.

Just keep an eye on your email :)
