Of course, best wishes to Rubes for a rapid and complete recovery but do have a thought for Mr. Chucken, parting with a Scirroco. This must be a painful time - he may even be devistayhid.
I don't think many lady-type people understand the man - car relationship: there is usually ONE car that "does it" for a man. It becomes his friend and confidant. All ailments are attended to immediately and without grumbles and, even in a packed car park, THAT car stands out. The man - boat relationship is very similar.
My brurdder has a TT - lovely car, dark black, moody, with a low purr until roused - but a Scirroco! Wow! To the uninitiated, the Scirroco is to cars what Wonder Woman was to legs.
I brought my unit of transport / best buddy into the motor hostible recently. The work required wasn't complex (a new window regulator) but, if not done correctly, I knew that buzzes and rattles would result. On handing the keys over, I fixed my glare and told the nice man in the overalls, in cold, measured tones, that I had a wife, two kids, one grandson and a spanial woof, all of whom I was quite fond....."but I love that car! If you hurt it, it will tell me."
Several tired phrases from cheap Hollywood movies were swapped but, when I arrived to pick up the car, that man was polishing my car.....with a clean cloth. That almost made me jealous! And my car isn't even a Scirroco!

Remember when they used to say "now, this won't hurt a bit" and then "YEEEOOOOWWWW! BLUDDY 'ELL"
At least they're more honest these days. When approaching with a syringe, the nurses here usually say something like "you won't like this, but it'll do you good....." Reminds me of Gracie Fields singing voice.0 -

Sentiments I understand. My little darling was a black capri many years ago. I had to get rid of it after it was vandalised. But I still have fond memories.

My next car would have to be one of these if anyone can lend me the cash on a permanent deal?

Rubes got through his operation with flying colours. Last update was Thursday night when he was having fun on his painkillers. Apparently he was talking....A LOT. Not like him at all

If he hasn't had it already, he should demand diamorphine. It's a fancy name for heroine and it's great stuff for what ails ya. Tastes great too, a little like aniseed. The nurses gave it to me for dessert for about a week and I've never even owned a grey hoodie. Mind you, I can remember the week before and the week after but not much of that week except that it was very colourful........like surreal!0 -
