Is there a way to check tickets are legit?

Hi, I am going to buy 2 tickets for an upcoming sold out gig in the Academy off someone who is advertising them online. Before I do I was wondering if there is any way to check if they are legit? Many thanks

I wonder how common fakes are at the likes of the academy?

I would be far more confident buying a ticket for an academy gig than the likes of say garth brooks or U2. With U2 being a higher price and higher ticket numbers it is probably far more attractive to scammers.
