    I learned the following:

    - There is actually a place in California called 'Weed'
    - If you go out of your way to help someone at work, forty more will stampede along demanding answers to stupid questions
    - Folgers classic roast coffee tastes like rat piss
    - Tech guy at work can basically remote his way onto my computer any time he likes, with or without my knowledge. Yes I'm an idiot. And that's fcuking scary.
    - Sudden texts from my Dad saying 'are you at work or at home?' will never not make me think that something horrific has happened and half my family is dead.
    - Double negatives are confusing.

    What did you learn today?

That the word boycott entered the English language during the Irish "Land War" and is eponymously derived from the name of Captain Charles Boycott, the land agent of an absentee landlord, Lord Erne, who lived in Lough Mask House, near Ballinrobe in County Mayo, Ireland, who was subject to social ostracism organized by the Irish Land League in 1880.

That a Belgian murderer and rapist has been granted the right to die by the Belgian Federal Euthanasia commission, because of the 'unbearable psychological anguish' brought about by his life sentence.

From reading about this I also found that others who have been granted this in the past based on similar arguments (and since died) include a transsexual whose operation turned him into a 'monster' (his words) and a pair of deaf twins, who knew they would go blind and no longer be independent.

That's really bloody interesting and begs so many questions. Such as, why didn't he just kill himself?

Another thing I just learned: if you encounter a temperamental cow, you should not engage in direct eye contact.

Christ. The post was obviously a joke. I deleted it before you posted, as I thought that there was a small chance that someone would foolishly think I was being serious. Cheers for confirming my suspicions. If you doubt that, PM an AH mod and ask for the precise time I deleted the post along with the 'reason' I gave for it. I have no problem with them giving you either, if they don't.

Of the bovine variety actually. There are some nasty ones in the Alpine mountains.

Jaysus calm down and take your medicine. You only deleted your post because of what I posted. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill

Although Moore County, Tennessee, is the home county of Jack Daniel's, a major operational distillery of whiskey, it is a dry county, so the product is not available at stores or restaurants within the county.

    Ha ha !!!

That's how gentle and sweet a real cow can be (from an Italian on-line newspaper) ;)

    http://www.lastampa.it/2014/09/12/multimedia/societa/lazampa/mattis-e-samuel-lamicizi-speciale-fra-mucca-e-uomo-5wlN7QkLZN3cDfyHjYDbaL/pagina.html

*[Translation]: Mattis and Samuel, the special friendship between a cow and a man

Dog isn't the only man's best friend. This video tells of the friendship between a cow and a man. She's Mattis, he's Samuel. Another evidence that cows are very social animals, an underestimated peculiarity when cows are closed in farms to force them to produce milk and when they are deprived of their calves.

I learned that electric Ireland are useless. I signed up after being told I would get 8% discounts rising to 10% for going dd on the bills. Rang today to finalise the gas to be told I should not have been told that and the there was no discount on the electric and only 4% on the gas. I blew a gasket and immediately rand energia who were great and im signed up with them now for 18% and 17% discounts respectively

I learned I'm not the only one who has terror struck into them by the wording of a text, and that I'm not alone in thinking Folgers is an abomination.

And I learned that aegrotat is a word for a medical certificate. It's a great word, and I will do my bit to bring it into common usage.

    What is folgers?

Do you really think aegrotat is a good word? I think it sounds horrible!
