    are both these ways correct for saying 21 + 31?


    aon bhliain is fiche daois
    bliain is fiche daois


    similarly could you use for 31:
    aon bhliain is triocha daois
    bliain is triocha daois

    Both sound OK to me. The longer version sounds slightly more formal. You could even shorten it further in informal situations like so: "Cén aois é? ... Bliain 's fiche".

    Also just to be hyper accurate, there's an apostrophe: d'aois, from "de aois".

    No. You regularly hear the age of someone just deceased being described as "bhí sé/sí trí bliana déag is trí fhichid"
    or "bhí sé/sí trí bliana déag is trí scór"
    or "bhí sé/sí trí bliana déag le cois an trí fhichid" all meaning "he/she was 73".

    Rarely do you hear "bhí sé/sí seachtó trí". More likely to hear "bhí sé/sí seventy three" :)

    I'd say it is more common. I've only heard things like:

    Táim aon bhliain déag is trí fichid d'aois.

    Bliain is tríocha d'aois.

    51 = bliain is leathchéad
