Markovic for me was an unneccesary signing imo. We have Sterling & Ibe both very young. We should have signed a player who had a better goalscoring record rather than another prospect. Griezmann would have been perfect imo.

Jaysus it was his first start ever and he probably doesn't have a word of english, let him settle first, he is one of the highest rated youngsters in europe too apparently. Rodgers is a very good coach so im looking forward to his development.

Some people on twitter saying hes apparently suspended for tuesday, he got sent off for a sideline scuffle v juve in the europa last season and missed the final so im assuming he picked up a 3 game ban for? Can is also suspended not that it makes any difference as he is injured. Maybe suso will be on the bench.

We are still in the League Cup.
We didn't lose 4-0 to League 1 opposition.

Please stop, you're making this way too easy for me.

Am I the only one that saw something in Lazar? I reckon he will prove to be worth every penny by the end of this season.
Actually there seems to be rumblings to idea that Rodgers spent very poorly this summer, so I thought I give my opinions on the new signings.

Manquillo - looks to be a very able right back. Good speed which helps him in recovery, nice touch, gets forward which give the option for those long switches of play, as a bit of strength but needs to watch a few vids of Finnan crossing the ball. Looks good for the outlay.
Moreno - at fault for a goal in his debut but has been excellent part from that. Good speed, nice touch, gets forward very well, capable in a fast passing game and has a bit of aggression to his game. Looks to be an excellent signing so far.
Lambert - helped us when the team was struggling against Southampton and should have scored in that game. Looks like he will fit into the style of play easily and can give the team a new impetus from the bench. Needs to score soon for his confidence and if he gets 5-7 league goals he will be a smart signing.
Lallana - looked smart yesterday. Great technique to get that shot away and a nice of bit of footwork on a few occasions. Far too early to tell however but I'm confident he will prove to be a good but over the next 2-3 years.
Mario - less impressive yesterday than on his debut and so far only okay. Not showing enough energy up front and like Lambert needs to score soon. I'm hopeful he will prove to be an astute signing for 16million. I think 10-15 goals would be a good return in the league.
Lovern - does some nice stuff and looks at times to be a very good defender but then he also suffers from the Liverpool defensive malady at times. Defence is a worry already this year.
Lazar - not enough game time to say either way so far but I see some directness in his play with the ball at his feet that could prove to be a valuable asset over the season. I think he will be an excellent signing.

All in all, I think Ridgers and the committee have done well with their summers work and it will take a while for all the players to settle and gel. Some like Lallana and Lazar haven't been helped by injuries and others haven't had an enough game time to make a reasoned judgement on their worth but overall I'm confident of most of the players coming good. Only one or two have me doubting.

As has been said previously, for some posters on here, if the new signings get it right, they're great, if they're rubbish B Rod should get the sack!! Apparently

It happens every matchday on boards.....I'm not sure if its getting worse but certainly at the start of each season it gets unbearable. One bad result and everything gets questioned, our new signings are rubbish we should have signed superstars, does the manager know what he's doing etc etc Even reasoned well balanced posters lose it. The Aston Villa game is a perfect example of it.

Its almost as bad elsewhere. A certain team does well and batter what can only be described as cannon fodder and all of a sudden the problems they have dont exist to some fans, all down to one game.

Get a grip lads. Long season and a lot of football to be played. Dont lose faith in BR and the team this early.

If only half of the summer signings turn out to be good quality players for the team over the next 2-3 years, the summer transfer spree can only be seen as a great set of signings.
If any more than half prove to good signings, will then the spree would have to be viewed as excellent.
I would love to see the findings of research into transfers in the premier league over the last ten years, to establish how many turn out to be successful to downright turds.
Id imagine the success % rate wouldn't be massively high.

Just a pity UTD aren't in the champions league this year - then they could have signed some world class players. The likes of Falcao and Di Maria will have to do for the time being.

It's incredible Liverpool received £65m for Suarez and then replace him with a headcase in Balotelli for £16m. The mind boggles. Did then even try to sign Diego Costa or Alexis Sanchez?

    Same auld story with Liverpool.

Someone mentioned considering reviewing the situation in a five game set, I think that's a good idea.
I also look at supporting Liverpool as a long term obsession and try not to get worked up over what will, hopefully, be only a small fraction of the games that I follow them for.
I've seen three FA cup wins, three (?) league cup wins, uefa cup win, super cup win and a champions league win over the years I've supported Liverpool and I'm happy with that. There has been some exciting runs in the cups that have ended ultimately in defeat but they were overall quite enjoyable.
There has been a couple of almost in the league that inspired long periods of euphoria despite 'slipping' at the final hurdle or not being able to reel back in the winners.
I will hopefully over the next few decades enjoy some more times like that and I just can't understand the short sighted over reactions that we see in here.
I have no problem what so ever with constructive criticism and civilised debates over where the team is going in the short term but people flying off the handle over minuscule monuments in a life long journey of being a Liverpool fan just flummox me.
I find looking at the funny side of things is much better and eases the sting of defeat.
Look we are all saps posting on boards and we follow a team which can put you through the wringer in a regular basis and which never ever do things the easy way - that bloody FA cup win over West Ham fooling savage game.

Must be delighted with the new signings ... and got getting rid of Tom Cleverly which must seem like a bonus as well considering your great fanbase BOO'd the kid when on the field for not performing ... superb fans you lot. Classy.

Just on Costa, Rodgers met Costa's buy-out clause last summer but Costa decided to stay with Atletico one more year and signed a new contract with a bigger buy-out clause.

With Mendes being Costa's agent, Mourinho would have always had first dibs on him.
