Whilst a pretty gruesome question, I can't help but admit I have often wondered this myself in the past. Unfortunately very few survivors of beheading to recount the experience.

    Except this guy.!

It took me longer than I care to admit to figure out that was a satirical site

When a guillotine is used it was common that the bodies would get up and run around for a few seconds before dropping.

No. Same as a shot through the mouth straight through the spinal cord- drop like water, no time even to pull a trigger if they are holding a gun. You are thinking of chickens.

    Morbid curiosity I suppose.

Also watched a family in Iraq execute a guy who was blindfolded and hands tied with an Ak47 as he just stood there. It was for raping a young girl. It took a few shots to kill him from a few family members of the girl as they took turns and he lay on the ground bleeding to death.

An animal wouldn't do it. Of course an animal wouldn't do it.

I got as far as head baskets.....then the penny dropped. I know it's not a laughing matter, but I think we can separate our horror at the actual act from our curiosity into the mechanics of it.

Animals torture their food all the time, cats do it, killer whales are the ocean's assholes. It's not just humans who have a want for inflicting needless pain on each other.

If it's a really cold day its going to sting a lot more worse.
Like when you stub your toe when it's cold hurts real bad.

So ISIS chopped off another guys head last night. But would something that looks so gruesome actually cause pain to the victim or would the die almost instantly from blood loss?

gettin ur head sawed off... id imagine itd be abit unpleasant, prob somewhere in between stepping on a plug and a tooth ache on the pain scale...

Just go onto Liveleak and look up beheadings. They cut the throat first so the victim can't scream, although you can see that they are trying to.

Nah, that's because I'm a walking disaster zone. I should be covered in health and safety warnings and bubble wrap.

What gets me is how resigned to their fates they seem to be......they must have given up all hope a long time ago. You'd like to think you'd go down f**king roaring at least. The thought of having total resignation scares me the most.

I did but they seem to have all the actual footage banned.

Just felt the need to share that curiosity.

To sit and watch some animal hacked somebody's father , brother , son, head off while they read some stupid propaganda for a camera is beyond curiosity but that's just me

I heard before they tested this back in the days when beheading was all the rage. People were asked to blink as a sign of consciousness. There's reports of people blinking up to 30 seconds.
I remember people telling me that Ken Bigley's eyes look around a bit after the severance.

Its the same footage as all the previous ones. It only shows the knife being put to his neck and then his severed head and body after the job is done

But sur some of us might like to see the act itself.
    How inconsiderate

They've been showing the video on some news channels, and where it hasn't been shown its been described in great detail. People don't need to go to any great lengths to feed their curiosities. The media are more than happy to bring it to you.

I have no desire myself to see the actual act. It's something that, so I'm told, you can never unsee. I'm also prone to very vivid dreams, my subconscious needs no additions to its already varied library of horrors.

It's the family's of victims that have to live with the horror that my real sympathies go to. How do you stop thinking about the way your loved one died.

Yes I imagine if a victims family were to see it they would carry the image to their own grave.

Just saw a video of a different beheading, wish I hadn't now. Poor family knowing that's how he died, horrific.

As far as I know that is the 'actual footage'. IS themselves edit out the more gory parts before releasing the tapes.

This was mentioned on the radio about a month ago (Newstalk iirc). Apparently they want to be seen as professional and 'sophisticated' in what they do so they don't show the bits where they're hacking away like cavemen on a corpse. All they want people to see is their message, and the end result.

    This.
You would think they would go down swinging, but they dont...its very unnerving.
There was a program on bbc2 a few weeks back about unrest in Nigeria,(the time the 12 girls where kidnapped)and footage was shown of a group of men being lined up to be beheaded.
There was about 12 of them sitting alongside a freshly dug pit watching the others heads being cut off. This one guy was called up next,he was told to lie down on the edge of the pit,and he asked the guy holding the knife where exactly did he want him to lie down!?The guy with the knifr told him he was only wasting time and "to get down on the ground now and put your head where the blood is":(The footage stopped there thankfully.

The same goes for a clip i saw of an uncle and nephew in Mexico getting beheaded. One guy got his head cut of with a chainsaw, and his cousin didnt even flinch.....even while the chainsaw was reving up they just sat there, confined to the fact that this is it.You'd think they would be trying to run or squirm or plea/beg?......nothing....just silence....then the chainsaw...:(:(
    Very unsettling.

    Edit:From what i've seen op,it hurts like a motherfucker

I wonder are they so calm because they know it's being filmed and they don't want their family ever seeing them cry, struggle, how scared they are, try get away?
