UNKNOWN devices connected.

    Evening everyone.

    Just had a look at my router status page, and it's showing a couple of unknown devices connected wirelessly.

    One of them has the same IP address as my Sky box, but with a different MAC address.

    Anybody come across anything like this before?

    Sky box can have 2 Mac addresses, one wireless and one for cable. How are you connected to it and how did you find out it's MAC address?

    Unknown just means they arent reporting an SMB/Netbios name, very common, especially with connected appliances like DVRs and stuff.

    Best way to identify them is by turning on one device at a time, see what comes online and then record its MAC. As above, the MAC is for the interface, not the host device, so a laptop with Ethernet, Wireless & Bluetooth will have 3 MAC addresses.
