Chupa Cupps ripping off Bubble Bobble?

Just noticed these in my local Tesco.
Looks a blatant ripoff of Bub from bubble bobble/puzzle bobble.

No mention of "all rights to Taito" on the packaging or website

It's uncanny alright but might be simply convergent evolution.
If the dragon/monster was coloured red it's be less of an issue.

It reminded me a little of Bioshock in the same way a cartoon baby dragon thing would remind me of Bubble Bobble.
