20k offer for Fahey or Fagan?

    Fagan

Fahey has an option to leave for free if an offer comes in.

There's absolutely not way any club would be dumb enough to offer only €20k for one of the top strikers in the country.

    I'm calling bull****.

Paul would be cheeky enough to try and low ball you like that. He'd certainly be very aware of how tight money is over here and how the short term nature of the contracts can leave clubs over a barrel.

He must also have known that Pats rejected a six-figure offer from Brann and that Fagan is contracted until the end of 2015 - otherwise he'd be able to sign a pre-contract agreement now.

God yea. just read Brann offered 310k! if he is contracted till 2015. 20k is a joke.

Daryl Kavanagh's departure has been confirmed.

A true club legend gone. Thanks for the memories Daryl..

I was at the St.Patricks - Dundalk game on fri and was again really impressed with Ian "Bermo" Bermingham. Very surprised that no full time professional clubs have made an offer for him. Have they? He is clearly super fit, good turn of pace, decent left foot and a good understanding of when, and when not to bomb forward.

Dunno. you'd need in-cider knowledge for that.

Didn't mind him leaving us at the time considering who we had to replace him but still a very decent player. Probably the best in his position in the league.

No probably about it, Bermo is the best left back in the league since 2012 and by a decent bit aswell. Only left back who comes close is Massey of Dundalk.

His missus would make a great wag too! Absolute dinger!

St Pats won the Leinster Senior Cup Final tonight. We beat Longford 2-1 in the Final.

    Champions of Leinster!

Bermingham is twice as good as Massey. He is the weak link in the Dundalk side, many others around me in Oriel agree

I'd agree that Birmingham is the best left back in the league by quite a bit but Massey isn't as bad as you make out. He is a decent player and not many better in his position.

Massey is fantastic when Dundalk are on top and putting pressure on the opposition. However, in a tight game when Dundalk are on the back foot he has a tendency to lose the ball under pressure and he wouldn't be the greatest tackler in the league. Bermingham definitely a more rounded left back.

Bermo for Ireland. Id have him in the squad anyway.
p.s. not trying to start the debate about loi in national squad;)

Gannon, Towell and Hoban wouldn't look too out of place either.

It would certainly be difficult to argue that he's a worse option than Ward.

Think Gannon will win Dundalk's POTY (The fans one anyway) He has been our best player in more than 1/2 our games this season. Up and Down 90 mins every week, never stops and is very composed on the ball

If we win the League Towell will prob win overall POTY and not even win his own teams POTY

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,195 ✭✭✭ionadnapóca

no need to worry about those permutations. St.Patricks will win it. Fagan will get POTY and Bermo will win the clubs POTY:pac:

Last few posts have me thinking about team of the year. Wonder will there be many changes to last years team?

    Team of the Year 2013
Clarke (St Pat's), Bermingham (St Pat's), Browne (St Pat's), Boyle, (Dundalk), O'Brien (St Pat's), Brennan (St Pat's), Bolger (St Pat's), Towell (Dundalk), Horgan (Cork City), Patterson (Derry City), Hoban (Dundalk)

    Shoe-ins
Bermingham, Boyle, Towell and Hoban should keep their spots
Gannon will definitely come in to the right back slot and Fagan up front in place of Patterson

    Maybes
Clarke, Browne, Brennan, Bolger and Horgans spots are iffy.
GK - Clarke, Cherrie, McNulty and Ryan all competing for this. I'd select Ryan. He has been fantastic against Dundalk this season and from reports he has been as good in other games.
CB - Browne's biggest threat this season is Gartland. Has made the very odd mistake but chips in with lots of goals. 7 in the league alone. Dan Murray could also be in with a shout.
Midfield- Bolger and Horgan could retain with Bolger most likely as he has been solid. Horgan has blown hot and cold but when he is good he is very good so might just scrape in. Can't see Brennan getting a spot with Shields, Healy and Conan Byrne all contenders.

    My Team would be

Ryan (Limerick), Bermingham (St Pat's), Gartland (Dundalk), Boyle, (Dundalk), Gannon (Dundalk), Byrne (St Pat's), Bolger (St Pat's), Towell (Dundalk), Horgan (Dundalk), Fagan (St Pat's), Hoban (Dundalk)

I know that there is a heavy weighting to Dundalk/Pat's players but nobody else has really impressed me more than those.

Barry Murphy has been outstanding in an average Rovers side this year

    21/25

You THINK there is heavy weighting to Dundalk/Pats players!?

Gearoid Morrissey would be a shoe-in for the team, one of the best midfielders in the league this season.

Why not post your team of the season and we can compare?
Obviously I'm only going on games against Dundalk and what I've seen on telly which is same criteria the players use when voting for this but he hasn't stood out in games against us. Have heard he's decent though.

Assume First Division player of the year will pretty much come down to who wins it, if we do its Connolly (even though it should be Desmond ahead of both players), if they do it's O'Sullivan

From what I've seen, I dunno about him ahead of Bolger, Towell obviously number 1 in that position
