Missus' dads 11 Tiguan has one of these fitted. 6cd, phone buttons on wheel etc.
is there a module you can get for Bluetooth phone?

Is there a way of knowing that the particular car/headunit/extras fitted will work with that kit do you know?

Is it plug n play, or is there any difficult stuff involved?

Will need coding to work, but there's no shortage of people around with VCDS. From memory there's a way to find out the spec of the head unit in the settings somewhere. It will tell you which one you need then.

Another option is a Bury phone kit. I *think* the VW branded version works with the radio and MFD. Would be a cheaper solution.

The Bury will be a separate display somewhere on the dash. You can get a two versions of it, one plays music and allows multiple connections.

Then there's Fiscon top which is closer to factory but probably a little cheaper. I'd probably avoid the clutter of the Bury personally when there's a decent head unit in it already.
