Birds attacking silage bales

Hi, I,ve got round bales out in a field, but birds are pecking holes in the bales. I,v put paint on the bales,and some stripes of grease on each bales but the little pr***s are still pecking holes, anyone got any other ideas (besides net,v expensive) to keep them off

I do throw a few car tyres on top of every bale as the birds always seem to attack the highest point of the bale
Grease does do more harm in the long run as it destroys the plastic over time

Draw them in as soon as possible after they come off the wrapper, if that's not possible get a hawk kite or 2.

A plastic hawk/owl or any type of scarecrow should keep them off. I use builders rap to protect mine from our cats.

what's builders rap birdmuts cause i have the cat prob too.

Just the heavy duty plastic sheeting you get in builders providers. Its good stuff too and a cheap way of protecting such areas
