Hi..I cant load pics but im sure you have all seen recent pics of mr obama at stonehenge. .in some of the pics theres something not right with the upright stones..ive never seen it before but it looks like some of the upright stones are supported from underneath..im not actually sure what im looking at..can anyone shed some light on this?

According to Wiki several phases of restoration have seen some of the tilted stones being set back upright and supported by concrete bases, I'm guessing that's what you're seeing / referring to?

Thanks..thats it..ive looked into it..id no idea of the extent of the "restoration"of stone henge..along the lines of our own newgrange. .

You do realise that the orientation of the stones at Stonehenge is most probably completely wrong?

If I remember correctly, they were all knocked in the 14th century by some Zealous bishop apparently, and repositioned somewhere about 350-400 years later.

I hope I am remembering this correctly. As I have been wrong before!
