I've owned both. SE was a fine car but I wouldn't go back to it. Totally different driving experience and looks / sits so much better.

It's taken me a long time to warm to the E60 but my next bus will be an E60 Sport with Spiders.

The E60's just don't grab me as much as E39's in either SE or M form, maybe because I see E60's Skanged out far too much.

Thinking of it as an early 30th pressie and if don't do it soon I'll never get one I say...

Car is up for a mad price I'd nearly be happy with a straight swap for ease of life even if I would be losing out no doubt!!

I saw my first BMW i3 today. What a weird little car.

Tbh i never really thought about it too much, test drive a nice one and you really won't care about the extra 20 quid a week on fuel.

55l tank so about 80 to fill, a tank gets maybe 300-320 miles

Jesus don't pay 9k+ for one, that's absolute madness.

Warranty won't mean much really as engine and gearbox on these are bulletproof and that's all they will cover when it comes down to it.

I know the price is mad ya. I have a 09 Accord type s to trade in the old model is the thing so I think that's worth about 8.5 private so I'd nearly be happy to do straight swap for easiest way of doing it. Certainly wouldn't give them a cent..

I still think you would want to be mad to even do that.

I paid 7500 for my car in July 2012 with 39000 miles on it and put 3000 of modifications into it and even in it's condition i only got 7300 for it with 59000 miles and it was apart from a bumper respray being needed spotless.

I looked at a fair few before and after buying mine and 90% of them are/were rough as feck.

    Just tread carefully.

I'll probably view it tomorrow and see what's it like in no rush anyway like tbh. I just don't fancy having to sell mine privately is the big thing. Rough in what way like mechanically? Viewed one last year was rough enough needed all wheels refurbed and all all tyres replaced too. Keyless had been removed too so 2 sets of keys!

Yo Norman, are you set on a 2.5 auto? or can it be 2.2 and manual?

With XS gone from the market they sent me my NCB letter and an email stating they are not taking on new business so the Hunt for new insurance before the 18th of October is on.

I will need somewhere that covers modifications as my car is lowered, 18" Alloys and a body kit. I was looking at some of the assumtions and one insurence company had
"That the vehicle being insured: Does not have non-standard audio equipment or a car phone."

So maybe I have to declare I have a JVC Radio too.

I'm with XS as well and they never sent me my NCB letter but I think my insurance is out Nov.
But I was gonna change insurance companys anyway as they are dear and I was only with them as I had endorsements.

When I bought my car 4 months ago, I didn't realise just how expensive it would be. Nothing related to being what it is especially, but the normal wear-and tear parts that affect any 8 year old car. Then tax, fuel.... the right rear headlight's started leaking.

Ignition's done. Brakes needed ASAP since the rears are <1mm. Front left tyre has a slow puncture after I ran over a stone, there's some lacquer peel around the left rear wheelwell.... well I was hoping to rebuild the engine core next year when it comes due for its next service so it'll be good for another 8 years. (But that's been the plan since I bought it.)

    And yet.

I don't regret it. It's never ever felt like it's not worth paying for.

And what's good on the car right now, is ****ing epic.
I wonder if car ownership is a special kind of madness.

I bought my saab with the intention of doing all that, and more, it's changed my opinion of cars and made me more aware of how delicate they can me, I'm just shy of 2k of parts in mine, and as was said today, It'l be better than the day it left the showroom when im done, so yes, its a special type of madness indeed :)

My insurance is up next month so I would say you will get your NCB a month before too.

1300 for mine, seeing as they're the only ones who'd insure me on it I can't really say anything

When I had 1 year NCB I went with Liberty for the FTO and it cost me €2200.

I was getting the same when i was insuring mine, but my insurance was up soon afterwards, so i just waited it out, got the extra year and done the sump while i was waiting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,428 ✭✭✭Dartz

Liberty wouldn't even quote me, starting off scratch.

That crowd in the North, what's their name, gave me a quote of 1500.

When I told Allianz, they offered me 1300 for the year, all the fun toys like breakdown cover thrown in.

I went through a faze where I wanted an FTO but then I started to look at the car and(this is my opinion, it looks like a womans car) hope you don't still have it after I said that. I just wanted it for the V6 mivec engine.
