That's worryingly high. The figure for the UK is 1 in 6000, for the US 1 in 25000

Article in Irish Independent, based on CNN research

Wondering why the figure is so high here? The article doesn't have any suggestions (for those of you who haven't read it)

If that is the case it should read that Ireland has 30 jihadist and not 1:1000 Muslims are jihadist.

Why all the Muslim fearmongering of late there was never any "1:1000 irish Catholics are pedofiles" headlines.

Well, we do have a higher proportion of first and second generation Muslim immigrants here than the UK. A higher proportion of British Muslims would have been born in the UK, lived in the UK and so on. You wouldn't expect them to be as patriotic about affairs back home. The total population of Muslims in Ireland is only a couple of ten thousand. Probability and all that.

The US is different again.

one cos it's not true as there is no link to being a catholic and a peadophile. There is a link between being a jihadi and a muslim . You need to be a muslim to get into the jihadi club . I don't imagine peadophiles are that strict on membership.

two if it was you would expect a headline to spell 'peadophile' correctly.

How many of those jihadis were just lads that got warped drunk and woke up the next day in Syria with a gun in their hands? Happens more often than you'd think. The problem is they can't use the power of alcohol to get drunk and wake up back home again.

Fair point on the link, but from what I'm aware of the jihadist are openly accepting converts who wish to fight with them so being Muslim might no be all that important.

It would also be good if you did that yourself - it's 'paedophile' not 'peadophile'. One would expect someone pulling another up on their spelling to actually know how to spell the word they're supposedly correcting.
