Cable drum to be used as garden furniture

I am looking to salvage a cable drum to use in my garden as a table. It will be 750mm in width in order to be the approximate height of a table. I've often seen them outside large electrical distributors. They are used for large coils of SWA. Will they let you take these or do they need to reuse them?

They normally send them back to the supplier but no harm to walk in and ask, all they can say is no
