Looking to buy a new lid and deffo want something that takes both pinlock and has an internal visor. Was using a HJC IS-17 and it was great but a bit noisy.

Any recommendations of other lids that have both those features?

My Nolan N43E Air has both Internal sunvisor and Pinlock ready visor.
I bought it because of its huge eyeport and FOV, the new one is the N44.

I have the Shoei GT Air which has exactly that. Not cheap but top quality.

Any light race style lid will be noisy, as its lighter so less material used, go for a slightly heavier lid and it will be more comfortable and better spec'd usually.

On my second one now, neither came pinlock ready. Think you can get a visor for about 50 euro though.

I had the universal stick-on one on the last helmet, think I'll get the proper visor for the new one though.

I have a Shark S900 that was my old lid, I'm going to wear that for now until i get a new lid. It was a grand fit, really tight but after about 2 months it was pretty loose. I don't think the brand fits my head properly.

The HJC i have at the moment was also a really tight fit when i got it. The foam relaxed a bit now but its still tight so i think that brand fits me alright.

Its kinda difficult to pick a new lid because of stuff like this. I've seen posts before on a few different forums saying stuff like an Arai tends to fit a roundy head where a shark doesn't etc....

Gonna go try on a load of lids next week. Will drop over to both cotters and bikeworld and try on a load of different ones.

Look at the caberg lids too, reasonable price, high scores on the sharp tests and most models have internal visor and pinlock as standard.

First lid was a Caberg. I thought it was grand until i put on a shark lid. The shark lid was a world of difference in comfort. Then i put on my HJC lid and the shark seemed uncomfortable after that, haha!

Hell i might just get another HJC-IS17 if i cant find anything else that ticks the boxes

I had tried on Shoei XR1100 a few months back and it was deffo the most comfortable helmet i ever tried. Doesnt have the internal visor and come with a pinlock but is on a savage sale price in helmet city.

Shuberth S2 has internal visor and if it's like the SR1, it will come with a clear pinlock insert free with the helmet.

Holy batman, Schuberth SR1 is now just 300 euro? I paid over 500 a year ago and that was a steal back then!!

Anyone ever use LS2 helmets? If so, what did you think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,735 ✭✭✭goodlad

I'm digging that lid with the optional SRC System installed.

Anyone know where stocks Schuberth helmets?
I want to drop out and try them on. Can just buy local then too and cut a deal on the lid + src system

Megabikes had them in stock this time last year.

My experience with trying on Schuberth helmets is that they have designed it with a very tight neck, so it will hurt a bit to get in and out for first few weeks or months even. Overall quality of these helmets are much higher than other helmets I have tried. (Nexx XR1R & Sharp GTAir). High quality feeling, very light and excellent vision & visor (spare dark visor is expensive though).

I ended up buying an SR1, you are more than welcome to try that on if you didn't get to try them elsewhere.

I'm saving for a GT Air, pricey but I don't think I'd wear anything bar Shoei

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,735 ✭✭✭goodlad

I simply cannot be arsed getting into megabikes to try on a lid.
So ruling out the Schuberth options.

Will be dropping into cotters today or tomorrow to size up a GT Air.
I can always get bluetooth/raido/comms kit aftermarket.

Cant actually buy until i get my insurance payout but want to know exactly what fits and what i want so i can purchase as soon as i get the money

    Dude,

I'm nearly certain that I saw schubert helmets in the Harley Davidson shop.

If you're on the way to cotters might be a good idea to just have a quick nose in there and try it on? The helmets were upstairs, think they only had a few in stock. They used to have a few Shoei in there, but last time I checked they were all schubert

Hmm, It jumps up to 379 when pick my size and any colour!

So i tried on the S2 and the GT Air today.
Both are extremely comfortable and its a hard choice.

The S2 is on sale atm from 610 to 480 so Im leaning towards that and then slap in the schubert comms system to it

Where is the Gt-air on sale at that price? I'm guessing cotters?
