In terms of elegance Heuston Station is up there.

For a domineering presence, Belfast City Hall is an impressive sight.

The GMIT offers a positive first impression of bold and daring architecture to first time visitors on their approach to the city. Unfortunately its also a last positive impression too as nearly everything else beyond it is mediocre and dull.

Navan Credit Union is an excellent example of a building constructed with sustainability and ambition for the future in mind from the start. What a shame we didn't get more of this during the boom years instead of the countless 'lash it up quick' Pyrite ridden and unimaginative Priory Hall type boxes that litter the land.

Its doubtful many of them will stand the test of time as Heuston has in that first image above. Perhaps we an be grateful for that. Just a shame we're stuck with them for now.

Ha'penny Bridge (and it infuriates me to see beggars taking up residence on it).

Personally love the Spire, from a simple engineering point of view and because it brings the whole street into focus and scale, you now notice what is above shop level.
O'Connell Street is 'streets' ahead of how it was 20 yrs ago imo.

I don't think we should just concentrate on the larger mega buildings.

There are some lovely bright bungalows perched atop the green hillsides here in Co. Cork. Very impressive, especially when set off against a mature leylandii background.

Standing in the centre of the square in NUI Maynooth is actually very impressive. 4 beautiful old buildings on all four sides of you with lovely gardens in the centre (funny, because the modern campus across the road over the footbridge is horrendously ugly).

    Trinity also.

Powerscourt is beautiful, but I think it's the gardens that make it, rather than the building itself.

    I love Ashford Castle too.

There used to be a massive and beautiful stately home in Meath somewhere, but it fell into disrepair and was eventually burned by the IRA. I can't remember the name though.
