Every time someone from outside Dublin takes offence to Dublin City being referred to as "The City Centre" all it does is reinforce the fact that you have a major inferiority complex. Stop being so insecure. If it bothers you so much what other people think, then you have more important issues to be worrying about.

Sounds to me like you have a superiority complex and are trying to deflect away from that fact, and your arguing just reinforces this.

The suburbs are quiet too. Mayo and Kerry haven't invaded yet though.

First time I've heard The Hill referred to as the suburbs :p

Speaking of superiority complexes: I was on my way to Dublin from Donegal and was telling a fellow Dub that I was coming 'down to Dublin'. I tend to go up north and down south.

She gave me a lecture about how you always drive UP to Dublin because IT'S THE BLEEDIN' CAPITAL.

As a Dub not living in Dublin I'd just say don't point out the chips on Cork shoulders if you've got a two chips on both shoulders and a backpack.

The raw vitriolic nonsense that you get aimed at 'culchies' and an extra strong dose for Cork due to respective chip envy is unbelievable at times.

I've seen comments after Cork's had millions of Euro of flood damage hoping it f***ing sinks and other lovely stuff like that.

Also the endless ranting about how Cork or Limerick or Galway are just towns actually smacks of a huge complex and some kind of shoulder chip issue.

Just wait until ComReg changes 01 to 031 which is looking likely to free up more numbering space in the Pale...

    Irish Parochialism isn't pretty.

Also remember that Dublin has absolutely no accent and its just the rest of the country that sounds weird.

I'm a Dub and I'd go up to Donegal and down to Cork (if you paid me). Some people are just idiots no matter where they come from.

    Is that what it was?

I was having a nap earlier and heard what I assumed to be a plane flying really close to my house. This is Mount Merrion, so well away from the city centre.

I was full-on expecting a horrific crash, but then fell back asleep… nobody interferes with my naps.

Heard it too here in D8. I thought it was an imminent crash. The last time I heard something like that it was Concorde flying over when I was a kid. The sonic boom thing.

Dubliners should be happy that todays fly pass was'nt done by 'Solo Turk' or there would have been a lot of brown underpants around. This was what happened at an airshow in England recently.

    Which city centre?
Love how Dubs just assume that the country revolves around them. There are other city centres in the country, ya big jackeen!

I came here worried that Waterford might be getting attacked again...

Love this chip on shoulder response.

What better way to celebrate a four hour game of American cheering than to fly death machines over Dublin.

Well, if they bombed Tallaght it'd lighten up the traffic on Cork Street. Just a thought.
