I'm using tunnelbear and it's great. Never had a problem using it with my Kindle Fire. You get VPNs for around 10 countries too so it's really handy.

It's kinda rubbish that you've to be signed in to Playstation Network to use the app on Playstation because if PSN is offline then you can't access the WWE Network app.

Does anybody know when the Network will be available to get in Ireland? I know it's soon but I'm actually craving to watch some old Smackdown.

Keep craving brother, there's sweet f*** all on there.

Why SD, incidentally? Just curious. Most people are always desperate to see the old Raws since it's the A show...

They have only uploaded a few episodes of Smackdown from 1999-2003 in terms of old school episodes of Smackdown.

Smackdown used to be considered the better show at various points in time.

    2002 - 2003 it was great alright.

I can't remember any other times it was great though. The JBL era had some fun angles but not much by way of wrestling. Oh I suppose when Edge was on top in 2007 it was fun too. But then Hunter came over and ate Edge and the whole brand went to hell.

Really enjoyed episode 1 of the Monday Night Wars, anyone know how many episodes it will run for?

Watched the St Valentines Day Massacre too. It's actually painful watch in the hiding Rocky gave Foley here and at the RR 99.

Has he (Rocky) ever spoken about his series with Foley and the brutality he doled out?

As an aside, I also watched the Raw just before the SVDM, it was in front of 43,000 people in Toronto, the noise was just something else, it really illustrates just how big a difference a hot crowd can make.

I know it was a different product and all back then but still.

I believe Rock made some sort of apology to Foley for the excessive chairshots. Foley has said they agreed to do a certain number (he says 5 in his interview with Steve Austin on his podcast) but it turned into however many it did. He says in Beyond the Mat backstage after it that he was pissed Rock hit him so many times and I think wrote in his book about legit heat towards him which he used as inspiration for a promo later that year.

The I Quit match is a tough watch these days. At the time teenage me didn't like the LMS match because it seemed less violent :/

I literally just saw said promo for the first time ever last week. Rock and Sock stuff, Rock dumps Mick's book in the bin and the cutesy, comedy Mankind just dies there on the spot and Foley just eviscerates The Rock on the spot. I was so surprised that they'd book Rock to look so verbally jarred, considering he was taking over from Austin for the next year, but hell, it looked and sounded fantastic.

Aye good promo. It went nowhere iirc. Foley was involved with Al Snow, Rock and Mankind patched up their differences, Trips/Steph put them in a pinkslip match which led to the Cactus Jack streetfight at Rumble.

Per an advert on Raw, they're starting to upload Nitro next week

Per an advert on Raw, they're starting to upload Nitro next week

It says on the network Twitter account that 100 hours will be added next week!!

Wasn't it an hour show for the first few months so maybe every episode from 95 and the whole year of 96?

Just hope they're put up in order and not a load of random episodes.

How far into the raw episodes is the network? The ones that started from the very first episode.

Must be well into 95 at this stage

    Early August 1995

They have also uploaded a few random eps or Raw and SD! from between 1996 and 2002

    Edit:

Announced on Raw that Attitude Era Raw is War eps are bing added next week. New episodes of Monday Night War on Tuesday and Wednesday night too.

They're pushing the archive content a bit more on Raw this week which I guess is a good thing from a selling point of view.

I didnt see Raw last night. Did they say full years of raw would be added?

    We live in rarified times:
With the first six months ending for subscriptions, the WWE Network announced uploading the first 100 hours of Nitro (the show started as one hour and moved to two hours about eight months into the run so that would be more than the first year) and pushed a Monday Night War series.

They didn't mention anything about full years no. It was a generic advert with Attitude era clips featuring the usual antics from 1998-2000 and then a blurb said the Attitude Era was coming to the Network or something to that effect.

I would asume they would at least have the corresponding Raw episodes to go with the Nitro episodes since the documentary pushed that idea of comparing them.

It had a resurgence in Summer 2009 with Punk, Jericho, Edge, Morrison and The Hardys setting up a new Smackdown! all stars crew. The movement died about September on, mind: Hardy left, Punk demoted, Jericho spending most of his time on RAW as tag champion and Edge ducking out early with an injury. Still, a very solid 3 month run.

The next episode of The Monday Night War is up, and the next episode is on later tonight. The 2nd episode is based around the Rise of the NWO. Good episode but nothing we didn't already know.

I thought it was better than the last. Never seen the footage before from Bash at the Beach of the fan getting kicked out of the ring by Hall and Nash! Classic

Have WWE got ALL the Nitros and Thunders in their library?

Yes the acquired them when they purchased wcw. I imagine they'll drop fed us episodes of nitro for the time being.

I don't follow? Is there a Nitro tab up already? Nothing on PS3 atm.

Monday Night War is better than the DVD doc but I am starting to find it tedious. The Vince vs Turner narrative is risible and it's a bit revisionist the way they keep saying how they pushed their silver bullet in Austin to the moon after KOTR '96 when he was relegated to the SummerSlam pre-show against Yoko****ingzuna. Afaik it waa Bret Hart who pushed to work with him upon his return and Austin wasn't even put over Hart even though that submission match did him wonders but I doubt that finish was Vince's idea (the match stip came from the office though).

I hate they way they make out turner to be a bad guy ( more so in others docs ) for trying to put wwe out of business. When wwe did that to , nearly , the whole American wrestling industry in the 80's

Who did WWE put out of business directly? It was more the advent of cable TV and mismanagement within the industry.

Did they edit Hogan's speech at Bash At The Beach for this documentary? I seem to recall him making a b**ls of it and saying "New World Organisation" rather than "New World Order"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,609 ✭✭✭irish_stevo815

He says "organization" at first, when talking directly to Mean Gene but says "order" after

Was the mismanagement you speak of failure to give I to Vince and allow them their timespot? They couldn't compete as Vince raided their talent and unmercifully basically took over the whole industry .

Granted some like the harts and tunneys gave up their territories but the likes of the Ganges, who granted seemed a bit out of time (won't you be confused with rocking chairs) , were put out of business due to a previously unheard off national expansion .
