It's a State funeral, of course it'll be on the radio/telly.

Have you a source for that allegation?

I'd imagine that the soup and sambos after the funeral are laid on by the family, as per usual.

The bitterness/bitching/begrudgery, even by the usual standards of this thread, is quite astounding today.

We live in a republic. State funerals should be kept to an absolute minimum. Former Taoisigh should not necessarily be automatically entitled to a State funeral.

He's entitled to - and being granted - a State funeral. It's one day. Your world has not ended.

A bit of respect for the dead (and his family) would be nice.

No need for any source. He's been creaming a very generous pension from the citizens of this country for many years. Ringfenced to the nth degree, whilst ordinary workers have had pay cuts.
