You'll get it on RTE Player

I Sky +'ed it, but that's no use to you.

How can it be ok on one hand that the hurlers will kick up a fuss about the state of the pitch if Mayo/Kerry match in on the day before the hurling final. But then on the other hand that if the Dublin/Donegal match is a draw that the replay should be on that very same day i.e. the day before the hurling final. Do you think that Dublin/Donegal will tread lighter than Mayo/Kerry and will replace the kicked-up divots? Unless GAA take the Dublin/Donegal replay (if it happened) out of Croke Park. What chance of that happening.

Its more about number two happening - the GAA calendar is made out at the start of the year, and the replay dates are put in. This American football game has been in the calendar for nearly a year now, and the GAA have forked out substantial money to make it happen. If Dublin/Donegal go to a replay, then thats tough, just have to deal with it, but you can't put Mayo v Kerry on a date that might be needed. Look what happened two years ago with the hurling All Ireland final replay, the date was set for the ladies football date, booked a year in advance, yet they were put to the following weekend.

The decision to put it in Limerick wasn't one taken light heartedly, but there is a huge festival all next weekend around the Croke Park classic, for the amount of money they have put in, they can't move it now, especially since its branded the Croke Park classic.

Only other option is for the GAA to fork out to hire the Aviva for the day, 51,700 capacity - would cost a fortune with logistics, and given that its all seated would be higher ticket prices to recoup the cost of the game, and would be a farce tbh

I was in it last year, its a stadium that holds 9 thousand in the stand, the rest are in terraces. Parking is a nightmare, access is as bad. We're at AI Semi final stage and we have to deal with terraces when we have a stadium which holds 70k seated not been made available to the teams.

Nothing against Limerick at all, great city, its the double standards of the GAA and the "Ah sure this will do ye" attitude of them.

Wrong there - only terraces behind the goals - seating along both sidelines. Look at the pic I posted. All seating in green

Putting aside the 'outrage' about an American Football game being played in CP what really are Mayo peoples thought about the game being in Limerick.

Personally I like it cos it's handy for me living in Kerry but I also think it's a good venue for a game that is going to attract a crowd of 40-50k.

I don't think it will give Kerry much of advantage, I expect it to be packed to the rafters, and most of them being Mayo fans.
The atmosphere is going to be brilliant.

Mayo have said that they would have preferred a more 'neutral' venue.
But I really can't think of one that would hold that sort of a crowd.

But I will say it's a bit hypocritical of the GAA saying that the 6th is not available, because they need it in case Dublin v Donegal is a draw.

I'd say it has to be a bit of an advantage to Kerry in the pure familiarity sense, in the same way having it on in Pairc Sean or somewhere would have to be a bit of an advantage to Mayo. Won't be a massive influence, but it's a sorry enough move by the GAA alright.

Having said that, the much smaller pitch in the Gaelic Grounds I would guess would be of benefit to Mayo with their greater physicality, and also help them pack the space in front of that full back line a bit?

GG is a kip of a spot and will suit Kerry more than Mayo. Its just 2 fingers to Mayo and Kerry that the replay is there. Incredible to think our national game is now 2nd place to an American football game.

IMO the real point to get a bit miffed over is the idea that this confirmed replay has to be moved to Limerick in case a merely potential replay ends up materialising in the other game.

Surely the correct thing would be to facilitate this game, hope for no replay in the other one, but deal with that if it does occur?

The GAA have basically opted to go with a situation where a semi-final replay will 100% have to take place outside of Croke Park, where they could have opted for a situation where that would have only been ~5% (18/1 draw).

The embittered cynic in me thinks 5% is too big a risk to bear the idea that revenue could be lost from a Dublin game outside of Croke Park.

Why can't they do a double header in Croker next Sunday?

On a more positive note, yesterday was some craic, no!?

Had a Mayo lad sitting beside me and I'd say at various stages we were ready to choke one another, but when Sheehan was lining up the free at the end we were nearly holding hands and crying :D

Great game, great performances on both sides, I hope we win on Saturday but ye will be more than worthy winners if it's ye.

Sorry - when you said that number two was happening in the first sentence, my immaturity sailed straight to the top, and I couldn't stop sniggering.

If you were there last yr you'd know there are 2 stands in the stadium. :D
Never had an issue with parking as the place is littered with shopping centre car parks, although given it's a Saturday these are likely to be in use.

Or the real reason - capacity. Next week will be pretty much a sell out on it's own so throwing an extra 50k people in there might be a bit of a challenge

The problem is the last time they did that was the All Ireland hurling final two years ago, who would have said KK and Galway would draw, the odds were very long on it happening, yet it did - replay down for the same day as the ladies football All Ireland final.

What were the odds of a draw yesterday?

Donegal v Dublin starts at 3:30pm, why can't they play Mayo v Kerry at lets say 7:30pm?

Or could have the minors at 12.30, Mayo/Kerry at 2.30 and Dublin/Donegal at 4.30 Something like the quarter finals.

    Will the replay be televised?

Four matches in two days is a lot of wear and tear on the surface - match is over about 5pm, 2 and half hour turnaround to get the stadium ready, looking more at 90 minutes to give fan an hour to get into the stadium, not feasible to have the stadium cleared and cleaned in that time.

I was in there after the hurling replay, played at 5, over by 7 and by 8,30 when I was back in there, they only had the Hill cleared at that stage, and were starting to work on the stands. Definitely had two hours of work ahead to finish cleaning it.

There will be 50/60K for the Dublin v Donegal game, won't be able to fit in the Kerry and Mayo supporters, 20K maximum of tickets left - then counties would be cribbing about supporters not getting tickets, way more would be left out than playing it in Limerick

when will tickets be available for the replay ? Will they be on ticketmaster again?
    Thanks

You couldn't have both semi-finals on the same day in Croker, capacity isn't there. Would be chaos around Dublin on the day.

The decision is made about Limerick so no point cribbing about it any further. Anyone that really wants to be there will get a ticket. The sooner we get the match out of the way the better, more time to prepare for the final if we win.

Your point was being miffed about the GAA not taking a chance on the other semi final going to a replay - the last time they took a chance on something not going to a replay, thats what happened.

Grand, it wasn't, but it's done now anyway.

If the Dublin Donegal semi final had been yesterday and ended in a draw would the replay be anywhere other than Croagh Park?

Id say so too. Theres a decent stadium with great parking and access in Castlebar but it would be unfair to give one team home advantage (unless its Dublin.)

That's the point I had been trying to make as well.

Mayo and Kerry being shunted down to Limerick rather than risk the 5% chance of having to do it to Donegal and Dublin.

    That's the bit that rankles.
