Would you become a clamper?

If there were no other jobs going?

Meself I'd say I would sit outside supermacs with a paper cup or go on the dole before I'd take a job that only involves ruining people's day. Where I'm from there are places you could put a car and it would be months before anyone takes a bit of notice and I just cant get worked up about 'illegal parking' - I just don't see it as a crime and I'm not bothered by it unless people are parking in the middle of the road and in that case it would make more sense to drag the car out of the way. The council are bothered by it because they don't want to lose money but they'd just waste it on silly statues and world war 1 conferences anyway.

I'd say you'd have to be a bit of a gobsh1te before one would take a job as a clamper, or a bit brainwashed to think it's something you do for the good of the people.

If you're parking in a place where you shouldnt then absolutely I have no problem with you being clamped.

Too many people in this country think they're entitled to turn on the park anywhere lights and pull up wherever the fook you want.

Don't want to be clamped? Park where you're supposed to like every other fcuker.

No. I'd hate to have to spend my whole day getting abused by idiots who can't be arsed to park properly, pay for parking, etc.

    I surely would.

I would take endless pleasure clamping cars parked illegally parked in disabled spaces, on or near junctions, and on pavements. :)

A friend of mine owns one of Ireland's largest parking management companies. Running car parks, on-street traffic control, services for concerts, race meetings etc. Very profitable business. Wouldn't work 'on the ground' but would have no hesitation in managing such an enterprise.

If you want to come off the dole you wouldn't say no to a paid job like that! Friend of mine is a clamper, he was on the dole nearly 2 years before that. He wouldn't tell us for ages what his new job was. We got over the fun of it fairly quickly and now get pics from him of nice cars or stupid parking.

I wouldn't be a clamper, it's a malicious system IMO ("You're creating an obstruction so we'll make your car immobile" Why not just a fine or towing?) and I'd say it's a job to which dicks are drawn (although you never know someone's reason for taking such work either; they might be really stuck - so I don't agree with giving them abuse, they're not the ones who have set up the system in the first place).

But being clamped IS avoidable. I don't understand why people get so angry when they have knowingly put themselves in a situation where it's a possibility.

Private clamping company fees are obscene too. Twice what a local authority charges for a clamp release (and that isn't small either).

I'd hate the job myself, but if it was all I could get then I guess it beats being unemployed. It doesn't seem overly taxing on the brain tbh. :pac:

If everyone in the country parked legally for a year, nobodys day would be ruined and the b@stards would be out of a job in no time. They would have to go back to strangling kittens with their bare hands, or whatever the fcuk they were doing before they became clampers.

It's a bit like bouncers, in a lot of cases the ones that actually want to do that type of work are precisely the ones that shouldn't be let anywhere near it.

    I'd love the power trip...:D:D

In fact, if you have regular bad moods, can you think of a more thearaputic job?? YEAH...

TBH I'd be too corrupt. I would look for little backhanders...:o I live in England, the vast majority of traffic wardens and clampers ate African...

OP..you clearly have never begged outside Supermacs...it ain't fun.

Would you follow up and pay the fine a private company left you?

    Yes.

Okay okay I'm bull****ting but saying that you would foresake paid employment and live on the streets or beg is stretching it a little.

Yeh, in instalments. Not an option when clamped though.

There's no job I would rule out doing if I had to feed my family. Clampers don't bother me in the slightest, in fact I'm pro clamping, I would rather they tow people, but that's not always practical.

I wouldn't have a thick enough skin for it.

They have such a bad reputation but how much of that is clowns parking where they shouldn't and then getting pissed off after they're clamped for it?

This. Also anyone taking up multiple spaces for no reason; clamped!

Hold on, is clamping someone who's parked near a junction not the worst thing you could do?

Yes I would. But I wouldn't be just any clamper, I would be a clamper on the take for sure!

I'd doze it fifty feet up the road, then clamp it.

You'd be in the minority so. Most people would chuck them in the bin which is why it's not a runner.

Plus, why should they have to wait for you to pay it on installments?
