He made any documentary interesting. I'll always remember him for his document on primates, and how he captured chimpanzees actually hunting and devouring live monkeys.

    True legend.

    May he RIP.

    Edit.

    Oops.

Richard was a nice bloke too. Rip.

He was brilliant in Brighton Rock, prob be best remembered for Jurassic Park and directing Ghandi.

    Didn't realise he was 90.

I have to laugh. Everyone initially thinks it's David, panics, and then gets relieved when it's only Richard :P

So sad, I loved his nature programmes.

I told my Dad this, and he thought I meant David as well. Anyway, it's sad news to learn of Richard's passing. Another legend gone.

And I believe we need heroes, I believe we need certain people who we can measure our own shortcomings by.

    Richard Attenborough

    RIP

    RIP.

A very talented man and, by all accounts, a gentleman.

Sadly after posting such an impressive innings this news was probably not all that shocking.

    May he rest in peace.

My heart literally jumped as I thought it was David. I can see when that day comes I will definitely not take it well.

    RIP Richard

I've never been sad when a big famous person has died, but this thread has made me realise I will be really upset when David dies :(

    Sorry, Richard! :p

    Sorry, Richard! :p

It's made me realise that David is only two years younger than Richard. :( For some reason, I thought he was much younger than that.

Brilliant in Brighton Rock (its a great Book as well)

He also has a very small part in one of my favourite films A Matter of Life and Death

and appears in The Great Escape.

Brighton Rock though was the part he will be remembered for. Pinkie was so evil

Good actor, very bloody good director who was brilliant with actors and at the same time knew where to point the camera, a rare gift, bit of a luvvie by all accounts, but in a very very nice way. Married to the same woman since world war 2 and when she sadly declined into dementia and was moved into a specialised home to help with her care, he promptly sold up their gaff and moved into the same home to be with her(a home they helped set up IIRC?). A nice man and a gentleman. Class act all the way to the end. RIP oul son.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

It's so weird, I just finished watching Chaplin and come on here to read that he has passed away.
    RIP Richard.
