She's not even the first gay entrant
Course it's not a subject that's discussed on stage, can you imagine Daithi going "so, I hear you're one of the all licking & no lollipop cailíns"

lol, you managed to get the daithi voice in my head so right i spit coffee on the screen...

im not talking about any of that, don't be trying to move the goalpost..im talking about hiding what is a large part of your life, your relationships and fundamentally who you are.

Why do you think she was hiding her sexuality? Who or what would she be afraid of? Your making alot of silly assumptions on no evidence at all!

But I'm not moving the goalposts. You're saying it's dishonest of her to have agreed to a male escort (he isn't the other kind of male escort like). What does any of that have to do with dishonesty?
It's just a part of the overall competition that the women have an escort. Are you saying it would have been more honest of her to have requested a female escort, even though the escort thing has nothing to do with the entrant's sexuality?

on the other hand, did she have a male escorting her throughout the whole week and do all the traditional stuff etc.etc? if so wasn't she being a bit disingenuous about it all

This is hilarious. Are lesbians not allowed to do all the traditional stuff and have a male escort because theyr lesbians? What's wrong with all the traditional stuff?

I'd say she might have. But I don't see why she should have had to reveal it; it's of no relevance to the criteria for being the winning Rose.

but you are moving the goalpost, why would you bring fancying or having sex with the escort into the equation if not to muddy the waters?and i didn't say it was dishonest of her,i asked a question.

well considering she is a lesbian then why not request a female escort, equality and all that?and if as you say the escort has nothing to do with anything, then why not have a female companion with her?

Why do you think she might have? Why would she? How could she? Do you even realise how much campaigning she had to do and competing to get to Tralee? Do you honestly think she could keep that secret from all those organisers and judges?

First thing I thought of when saw thread title.

    Who really cares.

Ah will you stop trying to be cool, loads of Irish people care - whether they should or not is another question.

I come to the conclusion by the fact that she didn't reveal it Mrs.you have parades every year, even one today, and media stories everyday of the week promoting "gay pride" so I just find it a little confusing that in 2014 Ireland she waited til it was over to reveal this

Why should she have to? Is it a standard question for the competition?

They should ask them Spartacus style e.g. "do you like oysters or snails?

Why should she have revealed it? There are plenty of other aspects to her which were enough to win her the title. Her sexuality is of no concern. It's not going to have come up in conversation on stage with Daithi anyway.

I brought a girl to my debs. I'm such a horrible, disingenuous person for it.

So are those girls who brought girl friends. Didn't they know they have to bring a person of the gender they're sexually attracted to in order to be an honest person?

Why? Is it somewhere you expect thick straight women only to enter?

yes, it shows that this is neither shocking nor newsworthy to the majority of people. There seems to be a few determined to spin it as Ireland being backwards-compared to which countries?

So just an assumption on your behalf then. Like I said.
She wasn't hiding anything. It wasnt an issue at any of the selection processes but you think it should have been. I have no idea why.

Because that's the only way the escort being a guy would be of relevance to what you said. (You did say she was being dishonest/disingenuous).

Why should she? It's completely irrelevant.

And why should she have been really vocal about being gay? Again, it's absolutely irrelevant to her competition participation, and (IMO) could have affected her chances of winning. If she said she was a teacher and it turned out she was software engineer, then that would be lying on stage, which would be dishonesty. But not making it known she's a lesbian when it's not of concern anyway... how is this dishonesty?

sorry but I just can't see the link between anything I said and having sex with the escorts

I think that she is the victim of the whole lgbt movement in this case.i agree with you that its not a big deal if she's a lesbian, its pretty hot to be honest, but such is it nowadays that it becomes a big deal hence the media falling all over this and threads like this.the gay lobby have created a frankenstein

As a slight aside, has anyone a link to her interview on stage? The ROT committee seem to have something akin to a lock-down worthy of the CIA on youtube of any of the programme?
