p0101 OBD error still being diagnosed

    Hi all

Ran a diagnostics on my Dads 2006 Fiat Doblo Diesel 1.2L Multijet recently after the engine management light came on.

    Originally two errors were diagnosed,

    p0238
    p0101

Upon doing a bit of online research it appeared that p0238 was consistent with the map sensor which we purchased a new one whereas p0101 is seemingly consistent with a Air Flow Meter fault.

We have changed the Air flow meter twice since diagnosing this (Firstly with a second hand one bought from a dealer on Partfinder and then with a brand new Bosch one purchased on Mister-Auto).

The engine management light still continues to come on and on running a diagnostics on the car, it still appears that p0101 remains a fault.

Does anyone know from experience what other faults could have occurred? Do you think there could be a leakage in any of the Air pipes? Can i rule out Computer or wiring faults?

Additionally i notice the Engine management light comes on when im braking and its always p0101 that is diagnosed when this happens. It was the opposite with p0238 which used to come on when i used to speed up and the Turbo used kick in.

My father cleaned the manifold and the pipes going into the manifold as well as the earth straps. He found a crack in the back of one of the pipes that was real hard to get at so luckily had spares to repair it.

Hope this can help anyone who is having similar difficulties. The EMGT light hasn't come on since thankfully. Hopefully the problem has been solved

I expect that both fault codes were logged due to the vacuum leak your father found. These codes would have been flagged if a lean (i.e. high airflow) condition existed in the engine and the MAP sensor was registering readings beyond its parameters.

Thanks for the reply Waterson. By any chance do you know how to reset the service indicator (spanner) miles for this vehicle? My dad had serviced it recently but cannot reset the service miles.

I would say, you hold down the trip button, ignition off, then switch ignition on and wait for spanner to stop flashing, not 100% sure, but a quick google should tell you
