CMD Key works; SPACE key work; both together don't work

    Hi,

    I have a very unusual keyboard problem.

    My CMD key works perfectly; My SPACE key works perfectly; When I press them both together (for spotlight) nothing happens.

    I have a wired USB keyboard with numeric keypad connected to a Macbook Air.

    Other key combinations with them work fine. I've even brought up the keyboard viewer and it registers the individual keys, but not both together.

    Strangely, the right hand side CMD key does work.

    The Air's own keyboard is the same, so I don't really suspect a hardware problem.

    The keyboard language is set to Irish International.

    Any ideas?

    Go To system preferences -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts


    See if the box is ticked for "Show Spotlight Field"

    Yes, that is enabled ... I've changed the shortcut combination to Option(Alt)-Space and that works fine for spot light.

    Weird. Try pressing them one at a time while holding down the other.

    No difference.

    I'm going to try another external keyboard out of curiosity.
