    Hi,

So I started investing few months back and I am still learning how "these" things work.

My question is for anyone that has used or currently using both Davy Select and RaboDirect, which do you prefer?

Just a quick feedback on how raboDirect works.
    Example
Starting fund: €200 / 2 Funds and €100 is the minimum you can invest.
    % varies per funds

Share 1/2 if you exit less than a year
    €100 - 0.75% Entry Fee
    €99.25 Is your starting amount
    €99.25 - 0.75% Exit Fee
    €98.50

Share 1/2 if you exit over than a year
    €100 - 0.75% Entry Fee
    €99.25 Is your starting amount
    €99.25 - 1% Annual Charge but varies - a year with 0% gain
    €98.25 - Is Left
    €98.25 - 0.75% Exit Fee
    €97.51

What company can offer something cheaper than this?
I do find RaboDirect very easy to use and setup and I would definitely recommend it but for some reason I find all the charges very high

IMO Rabo is very much geared towards regular investment, which is a killer on charges, as you have documented.

Due to this I have avoided investing with them. Instead I'm looking at TD Wsterhouse or Saxo and investing enough to circumvent the charges for inactivity I.e. not trading X times a year.

Again, IMO, Rabo is making it easy to get into these managed funds and charging you alot for that privilege. .75% entry and exit plus .45 to 1.75% is alot. So if you buy E100, you're down to E99.25 before you start and as you're charged the annual fee, you need 2.5%+ growth just to break even. The management charge is per year, so each year you lose almost 2% of any profit ......too much for me.

General consensus is that passive index tracking ETFs outperform managed funds, at a fraction of the cost.
