SMEG dishwasher blast-drying dirt onto crockery

Anyone have any ideas on cause and cure for dishwashers not working?

We have a smeg dishwasher - performance is so bad that crockery is coming out with bits of dirt dried on so hard that they are actually in worse condition after the cycle.

We've cleaned filter, filled salt, put a dishwasher cleaner in, always use rinse aid and good quality tablets so don't really know what next?

machine is about 4 years - so too old to return but really wouldn't be expecting to have to replace yet!!!

It hasn't been great on the whole - previously draining problems; and cleaning tablet door not opening - so all in all not great.

I'd like to get this issue sorted.
Any advice or ideas would be gratefully received.

Have you removed the spray arms to see if they are blocked. Stuff like egg shell or lemon pips get in some how and block the holes in the end. You can clean them out with a pick or cocktail stick, rise with water etc.
