Clothes from Australia marked as gift, will I have to pay customs or VAT?

    So I just received some clothes from a store in Australia. They sent it by DHL but it was delivered by An post. I looked at the package and it was marked as gift, the postman simply had me sign for it and made no mention of paying any fees. Will they be sending me a bill for the items or am I in the clear?

    Depends on value but DHL is known to send out invoices after delivery for customs fees.

    In my experience you are better off not marking it as gift and packaging it as a give with a card inside another package.

    Marked as Gift is on almost everything coming from China :pac:

    To be honest marked as a gift makes no difference as the threshold increase (€22 to 44 or something in that area) is negligible and they us the higher threshold for everything anyway.

    I don mean in that way, I mean in that its the bloody "Being examined by customs" when there's a declared value on it I never have a waiting time.
