Reliable hatch sub 3k advice

I'm moving to the UK for the next few years. Need to purchase a motor over there. It will be for my own personal use, no major mileage. Looking for a hatchback, preferably 3 door, 2004 upwards, petrol.
Max budget €3,000. 27 year old male.

Been considering Toyota corolla, Honda civic, Audi a3, VW golf, Opel Astra, ford focus.

Anything I am leaving out, bear in mind the budget.
Any opinions and advice welcome, thanks

That should get you a 05/06 Corolla. Try and get one of the Colour Collection special editions that were fitted with extras. Titanium Focus 3dr with the 115bhp 1.6 litre engine would also be a good call. Mazda 3 is worth looking at too though they don't come in 3dr form.

2 models I hadn't considered, thanks for the input, bit sensible maybe, prefer something a bit more sporty

They are just as "sporty" as everything else you've listed above tbh.

If you want something sporty then you listed the wrong cars. You'd probably get a late model Alfa Romeo 147 if you want sporty 3dr hatch.

Hard to beat the corolla, but your going to the uk for a couple of years, get something fun.
