I think its only the lumbar support that's electric on those Avensii dgt.

There was only one elec button on the drivers seat alright, which would explain my discomfort at the lack of comfort  silly me thinking someone would order the car new with fully electric seats....! :D

I probably should review more of the cars I test drive now and again, this one time I test drove an automagic R33 Skyline, another a Glanza V (no, not TFB's) but seeing as those were years ago, memory is fuzzy as to how I felt afterwards.....

    2 questions

When buying a car is it ok to to drive it home without nct and tax or would i need to get it on a trailer?

Without taking insurance off my current car, will insurance insure a car just for a day just to get it home?

    1 answer

I tried to switch insurance for a day and they blatantly refused, had to tow the car back on a trailer, I might get scolded but if you have insurance for the car i don't see the harm in bringing it back to the house if it's a short distance, i took one of my cars back from dublin like that and nothing happened

So ultimately it's up to you!

Going by my own experience last week, car already had NCT so that wasn't a problem (but if it didn't I'm sure you would get some leeway), regarding the tax, bought it off a garage, so the fella gave me a slip of paper saying the logbook is sent off and to stick that on the dash. Not sure about insurance, I'm covered to drive other cars on my policy, so I drove it home. Not sure but I think the insured to drive other cars thing only works if the car is taxed and NCT'd. Could be wrong on that though. Must look through that in better detail. I got home in one piece anyway!!

Went to Merlin's yesterday to bid on the corvette they had for auction.

There seemed to be a number of electrical faults, actually a lot, as no lights, windows, etc worked.

Anyway I bidded up to 5k, it went up to 6k but didnt meet the reserve, for those who were interested

It also, usually, only covers cars you do not own :p

    It always only does that!
However the prerequisites of tax and/or NCT depends on the policy wording.

I've had "driving other cars" with a few different companies. Some were unrestricted, some required the other car to be insured, some required NCT, some required both of the above. No mention of tax though

Most are restricted to 2 liter and some 2.5

I've never had any restriction on engine size, in the 6 years of policies.

I need to hire a car at Nantes airport for a few days in a couple of weeks. Anyone got recommendations for a good company to deal with there? Any help appreciated.

    Depends on the companies.

I mean 123.ie and all those type who insure with rsa or aig and the likes only go 2L

Depends on the terms and conditions

With Liberty it's any car that's privately owned, once you have a full licence.

This is what I have, yes. With liberty this year, but with others in previous years too.

The oh has a policy with RSA through 123 and has no CC restriction.

Finally its gotten to the date of its nct. And it passed!!

Its only two and a half months late, being waiting awhile for the test to come around. Booked it end of May.

Then again I didn't go chasing cancellations.

I'll be honest I thought it would fail on something, and I didn't leave a €50 in the ashtray.

I can tell you in deansgrange they are properly checking for headlight washers with xenon lights as your man nearly broke the covers off mine as they only pop up when they decide!
Which was brought up after they handed me the cert.

Yes! Finally getting my 300ZX back from its transmission rebuild. Picking her up in the morning.

I think I'll schedule my appointment in Atlas for 2 new tyres on Saturday morning :P

Nope, no cc restriction at all. I am covered to drive any car as long as it is not a commercial and I am not the registered owner of the vehicle.

The headlight washers only operate on every 5th or so windscreen spray.

Ah yeah I knew it was that!
T'was funny watching your man: lights on Spray, lights off Spray drls on spray, off spray, foglights on spray-off spray.
Get out look at bumper scratch head, check phone. (may have being text or somthing happing on facebook I didnt enquire)
Attempt to pull cover off. Ask somebody else two of them looking.

I'm sure he got it sorted anyway.

So were heading home in the van, turn off the M1 for Collon only to be met with a dopey c*nt driving up the off ramp.

Not good enough? She does a pathetic turn and tried to drive up the Dublin side off ramp. A chap in a lorrey ran out to stop her.

I hope she appreciated my verbal abuse, I wouldn't give a c*nt like that a dog licence

What the hell is wrong with those people:confused:

Just parked a car on my way from work and there were 2 young fellas stopped in the middle of the road. One of them popped out of the car and went to Centra while the driver stayed in the middle of the road waiting for him:confused:

There is a huge car park behind the store but this retard couldn't walk that distance apparently. Everyone had to go around him, or wait if there was a traffic. And there was one, because it was after 5 f***ing pm when everyone tries to get home.

Fortunately I don't have to work these crazy 8-5 hours every day.
    This is frustrating.

My mothers friend crashed his Taxi last week when he met an old man driving the wrong way down the M11, a van ahead of the taxi jammed on the brakes because of this and he drove into the back of the van as he could not stop in time. The old man then did a U turn and drove off in the correct direction, lucky another car that witnessed this drove after him and told him he had caused an accident and to wait where he was.

Today has been a good day, I got my side skirts installed and my brothers broken playstation 3 I managed to fix which means it is now mine:D

Might know of a polo that's destined for the scrap yard because the owner doesn't want to put new pads on it....

So I toddled into the mechanic tonight (the OH is useless at car stuff, and claimed their was nothing wrong with my car despite the giant farting/belching noises it makes on startup)

Thankfully it appears that one of the mounts holding the exhaust in place is either perished or fell off, the fecking exhaust is wobbling like a lady with five bellies.

Quick job to repair, mechanic as always was super, and is going to take it in either this or next Sat to fix :)

    Hi all,

im looking at getting a 2010/11 Honda Accord and love the look of the EX GT. The only problem is I would really like the full leather electric seats and sunroof which are only available on the EX model.

Would it be possible to get the GT bodykit added at a later stage as im only 27 and without the kit it looks a bit granddaddy! Thanks

I don't see why not! If you can pick it up and get it fitted sure no harm!
