Removing a program from the Programs Menu in XP

Using XP on an old computer here and I used to be able to remove program entries (just the entry, don't want to delete or uninstall the program itself), from the Start Menu/Programs list, by right-clicking and selecting delete.

Some time ago the right-click functionality stopped working on this menu. Is there a way to restore this or what could have caused it to stop working in the first place?

You can always find the user's start menu in their profile in C:\Documents and Settings, also the AllUsers one. Delete from there, but I don't know why its stoppped working for you

Thanks, deleting from the AllUsers directory worked, not sure about the right-click thing but will keep searching.

Check if "Enable dragging and dropping" is disabled in the Start menu properties (right-click taskbar, choose Properties and then Customize). If this is disabled, it also prevents the right-click menu from appearing.

    Yeah that was it, thanks.
