    Wtf did you do wrong?

Being an idiot is what I did wrong. I did get to nail both of them separately a few weeks later, so all was not lost, but I'l probably never get that chance for a threesome again. Bah!

Fancied this Human Nutrition student at college for a couple of years

Glad to hear she was human anyway.

"and in a darkened underpass I thought oh God my chance has come at last. But then a strange fear gripped me and I just couldn't ask" - There is a light that never goes out, The Smiths

Apparently that song was about when Morrissey shared a cab with Jimmy Savile one time on the way home from a disco.

Have you ever let someone slip through your fingers

Sometimes I did, sometimes I did not... At the end of the day you never know whether it was a right decision or not, perhaps that relationship could turn out to be a nightmare after a few years? Don't regret things, look ahead and be happy now, life's too short for worries and regrets.

Back in college I spent a summer in London working in a type of hotel/hostel with a group of other mostly Irish people.
There was one girl who I thought was absolutely gorgeous - I really fancied her, all the guys did.
I spent weeks putting in loads of groundwork, being as charming and funny as was possible for myself at the time.
I finally got to kiss her one night when we were out in a club, but nothing else happened that night.
The next night I got really drunk and ended up sleeping with her best friend, who I didn't really even fancy anyway.
The following morning, the girl of my dreams walked into her best friend's room and I'm there laying in the bed with her.
    'Awkward' doesn't even come close.

Obviously she didn't want anything to do with me after that.

15 years ago, one of my students asked me for career advice after the leaving cert. Knowing he was a bit slow and had no career prospects, I tried to cheer him up by giving him a little kiss as a last positive memory before he embarked on a sad, pointless life. He couldn't even do that right.

    Wonder what happened to him?

And then he became a Mod?

Wow, what a ray of sunshine you are.

He could be doing something great now. If we all listened to every teacher that wrote us off...................

I did about 15 years ago after doing the leaving we all went on the piss. I had fancied her for years. Was too shy to act on it .

Told her she looked gorgeous that night which she did, she took my hand lead me to a quieter area and stared into my eyes waiting to be kissed.I PANICKED and went for a leak.
Christ just to have that opportunity again.

Don't dwell on these things! Few it as gut instinct.

I think if something is right you go for it no matter how shy!!!

First time in college myself and literally the best looking girl in the whole place kept eyeing me up. She was drop dead gorgeous (natural blonde, cute, terrific body) - essentially a teenage boys dream. We kept bumping into each other and I got the distinct feeling she wanted me to make a move - but I never did. I was too painfully shy and anxious back then. Saw her a few months after college holding hands with some bloke who looked like he'd won the lottery he was that happy. Que scowls of disgust from myself

    *sigh* :(

Yeah, I turned down a couple of guys in college and I still find myself wondering 'what if'... One was the bass player of a band that played the SU one night, and the other was a proper cutie that I said no to because he had a big head. Not in a 'full of himself' way, he had a size 12 head on a size 10 body.

I try not to kick myself, but I'll always wonder what could have happened.

I really had to try not to do just that first time I met him. Lovely bloke though, and cute as anything, for all he looked like a bobble-head.

Man, I must be pretty happy with my choices in situations like this, biggest missed opportunity I can think of is going to see Brian Wilson at Oxegen 2007 instead of going to the entirety of Daft Punk's set. How was I to know Daft Punk would be the one that'd be much harder to see again?!

I think everyone has been in a similar situation at some stage in their lives, OP. I have had a number of such opportunities over the years. Yeah, it's s**t when it happens, but maybe things aren't meant to be, if it happens.

For me, it's simply not acting on the spot, such as asking her out, or whatever. And, if I've tried that, I've been turned down. I can't win :p The dream girl is out there for all of us lads. It just means having to let other dream girls pass by first, however painful it may seem at the time. I'm not that patient, however ;)
