The argument escapes you. You have no argument for your view except that sex is what you are born with and that's it. It is a mechanistic or animalistic view of humanity. It's an impoverished sociology. Live your own logic and abandon the "sociological obfuscatory waffle": what are you doing on the internet? Interacting in a sociological milieu and using a language which had constructed reality? The logic alone approach leads to the gas bill chambers.

    Wow. Brilliant argument there.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Sorry but a guy who has been married twice, fathered children and also seemingly homophobic, takes 60 years to figure out he should have been born female.

    This guy needs psychiatric help.

Well, chances are she's probably getting it. Because they don't just hand out hormones willy nilly. I've been through a psychiatrist, a psychologist and my GP to get hormones, and that process took quite a while.

But of course if society wasn't so pissed off at people transitioning people might be able to unravel their transgender nature in their head at a much earlier stage. It's already beginning to happen, but with society so generally ****ed up when it comes to this stuff of course it can take some people a life time to figure it out and build up the confidence to deal with it.

It's not unusual at all for someone to go to great lengths to come across as the exact opposite of who they are, as a form of covering up.

A LOT of people will do pretty big actions which impact other people in huge ways purely out of a sense that they have issues with themselves and see the actions (e.g. getting married, having kids) as a possible solution. It's unfortunate, of course, but it's very easy to see how it can happen.

Fair chance he's been having help for years, can't imagine he'd do something like this otherwise. Don't you have to go through counselling and whatnot before you're allowed to undergo gender reassignment surgery anyway?

Frank is a dirtbag. I do not believe he is genuine at all, in fact i think he has lost the plot.

One of that sad things about threads is that the people who come along just to disparage and insult trans people or otherwise soapbox about how transgender people are all mentally ill deviants never take a chance to learn anything. We hear so often that in their oh so expert opinions that trans people should be getting counselling without a shred or irony, because if they stopped for a second and listened, they might learn that trans people do get psychological counselling as part of their transition. Surprised they might be to find that no, being trans is not something that a person can be talked out or, medicated out of, or prayed out of. But they just want to have a go, back-slap each other at a good dig, and bemoan the PC brigade, because god forbid someone saying that they're talking about human beings is being millitant!

Ok so it can be argued that Kellie did some questionable things in the past. Ok that's fair enough criticise away for that. What is doesn't give you is the right to verbally vomit on trans people as a whole.

If you don't know about something, educate yourself on it. don't sneer at it.

Not sure if this is in response to my comments, but i am in no way vomitting on trans people, i have the utmost respect. I just don't believe this is a genuine case.

What? Why would someone go through this if they weren't genuine? For ****s and giggles? Do you have any idea how hard it is?

    Based on?

Sure, she might not be the most pleasant person, but so what? People can be assholes if they're straight, gay, trans or anything else, but that's not cause to doubt their sincerity in these matters.

It wasn't to be honest but considering the sheer amount of psychological analysis, testing and interviews that somebody must go through before they physically transition I'd be fairly sure that it is a genuine case.

Based on his character, what i know about the man and having observed him over the years. Just a gut feeling based on what i know about the guy, i don't really want to get into the ugly specifics.

It must be a rare gift to diagnose people as having "lost it" just based on their public life? Clearly your talents are wasted here.

I'd say that's a fairly knee jerk reaction to anyone that finally tells people in their life they're trans. It's going to be something they've probably thought about most of their lives though. I imagine someone would need to be very mentally fit for want of a better phrase before doctors will let someone proceed.

Well he has already pretty much had a nervous breakdown on live tv, so his mental health isn't that well concealed from public life.

So? Mental health issues doesn't preclude someone from being trans. I suffer from anxiety attacks, I've suffered depression in the past, in your armchair diagnosis does that make me not trans and/or have I "lost it"?

And maybe some of those mental health issues were related to her coming to terms with herself.

Well he has already pretty much had a nervous breakdown on live tv, so his mental health isn't that well concealed from public life.

Lots of people have had nervous breakdowns. I know lots of trans people, myself included who suffer from depression and other mental health issues. It has something to do with being trans being a stressful condition. Trying to cope through drugs and alcohol. Trying to cope by repressing everything: the amount of trans people who join the military is unreal. There's even the recent case of the American Navy Seal who was in one of the elite special ops teams transitioning. There's trans MMA fighters. Trans people do a lot of things before accepting themselves and with the attitude of so many people in this thread is it any wonder we have a difficult life?

But to medical transition isn't an easy thing to do. There are doctors doubting you every step of the way. Imagine the lawsuit that would happen if someone transitioned, grew boobs and had a female hormone system (or male) and suddenly they became "sane" and they pointed the finger at a doctor. The reality is that it just doesn't happen. Any of the cases I've heard of someone detransitioning has been because of the way society treated them post-transition, not because they doubted they were trans.

It is not easy to get medical treatment to transition.

Lots of trans people get married and have children before they finally come out. I know 4 trans women who did that.
