    Fetishes are to do with neural plasticity. We can develop certain sexual attractions for objects or experiences through events or early imprinting. There was the case of a man with cystic fibrosis who as a child was woken up ever night for injections and tests. He developed a fetish for needles and pain. It's all in a book called the Brain Which Changes Itself which I highly recommend.
